in conversation with Adam Scott
discussing her memoir, Happy AccidentsClub Nokia at L.A. Live
Downtown Los AngelesThough she’s one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood today, Jane Lynch is anything but an overnight success. At age 50, she didn’t come into her own until the last decade. Before she landed her role in Glee, she’d battled alcoholism and anxiety, learned to embrace her sexuality, and accepted that life is sometimes a series of opportunities that come after what seem, at the time, like disappointments. Funny, poignant and brutally honest, her book Happy Accidents is one part comic-memoir of behind-the-scenes-Hollywood and one part inspirational-narrative about self-acceptance.
“If I could go back in time and talk to my twenty-year-old self, the first thing I would say is: ‘Lose the perm.’ Secondly I would say: ‘Relax. Really. Just relax. Don’t sweat it…Be easy on your sweet self. And don’t drink Miller Lite tall boys in the morning.” — Jane Lynch

My favorite Sue quote-I don’t trust a man with curly hair. I can’t help but picture little birds laying sulfurous eggs in there, and it disgusts me.
Even your breath stinks of mediocrity.
“all i want is just one day a year where i’m not visually assaulted by uglies and fatties” -sue sylvester
“I AM LACTATING WITH RAGE!” By far, one of my favorites.
Hey William, I thought I smelled cookies wafting from the ovens of the little elves who live in your hair.
- Sue Sylvester
‘’I will go to the animal shelter and get you a kitty cat. I will let you fall in love with that kitty cat. And then on some dark cold night, I will steal away into your house and punch you in the face.’’
“We’ve lost the true meaning of Halloween: fear”
“It’s as barren as me in here.”
“You think this is hard? I’m passing a gallstone as ewe speak. THAT”S HARD!”
You think this is hard? Try being water boarded. That’s hard!
Sue: “Will, you have more grease in your hair than the guy behind Wikileaks.”
Sue: “I thought people wanted a candidate that was for something. That’s why I took that pro-deportation stance.”
Your hair looks like a briar patch. I keep expecting racist animated Disney characters to pop up and start singing songs about living on the bayou
My all time favorite Sue quote!:
“Schuester! I’ll need to see that set list for Sectionals after all. I want it on my desk warm from the laminator at 5:00 P.M., and if it is one minute late, I will go to the animal shelter and get you a kitty cat. I will let you fall in love with that kitty cat. And then, on some dark, cold night I will steal away into your home and punch you in the face.”
I feel silly because someone already posted that quote! so here’s my 2nd favorite!:
“So you like show tunes. It doesn’t mean you’re gay. It means you’re awful.”
My favorite quote would have to be taken from your article about Jane talking to her twenty year old self; “Relax. Really. Just relax. Don’t sweat it…Be easy on your sweet self.”
It would have to be “I am in love with one Will Schuester.” Priceless.
My favorite Sue quote-Sue Sylvester: [after Will smashes her trophy] You know, for me, trophies are like herpes. You try to get rid of them, but they keep coming. You know why? Sue Sylvester has hourly flare-ups of burning, itchy, highly contagious talent.
Sue whispering “Sweet Porcelain” when Kurt & the Warblers are mentioned during a Glee club meeting.
“…And that’s how Sue sees it!” I absolutely love when she says that!
have you picked winners yet?
“And that young terrorist went on to become the first gay president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.”
I just find this hilarious
