Third Role Revealed – A Male Mercedes!

Posted by Tinkers on Jan-29-2010 under Cast & Crew, News

mercedes-jones-photoA few weeks ago, Ausiello revealed two of the three new roles which will be cast in the the nationwide casting search. One was a jock boyfriend for Kurt, the second was an “Eve Harrington-esque” rival for Rachel The third has just been revealed – it’s a male Mercedes!

“The third role is an R&B-singing teen. A male Mercedes!” Says Ryan Murphy to Ausiello.

Excited yet, gleeks?! Well, chances are this character could be a love interest for Mercedes as well as her male counterpart. Ausiello cleverly hid the spoiler beneath asterisks – but we decoded it for you. :) “Kurt isn’t the only seemingly celibate Glee character getting a love interest next season!”

Glee Gets a Second Season & More Casting Details

Posted by Rob on Jan-11-2010 under Cast & Crew, News

Glee PilotComing as a complete shocker to everyone (*sarcasm*), Glee is getting picked up for a second season! :D Yay! The only shocking part is that it happened so early, seeing as they have barely started even filming the back 9. Then again, the fact that they started working on an open casting call for the second season should have been the giveaway that there would be a 2nd season. Hehe. :)

We have a few more details than what was stated in out last post. Glee‘s co-creator/exec producer Ryan Murphy said, “Anybody and everybody now has a chance to be on a show about talented underdogs. No matter who you are — a Broadway talent or a struggling singing waiter with a dream in the Midwest — you now have an opportunity to make that dream come true by posting your talent video and showing us what you can do.” Isn’t that what Glee is all about?

Murphy also said that all three of the new roles will be chosen from the video audition process, making Glee “the first interactive musical comedy on television.” Better yet, the search for the new actors will be made into a multi-part special leading up to the premiere of Glee‘s second season! That will be the big reveal for the new cast members! Exciting!

Online Open Casting Call

Posted by Rob on Jan-11-2010 under News

If you’ve been longing to get on the show, but aren’t able to go through the showbiz system — agents, head shots, auditions and living in LA, then here’s your chance! Fox, in a marketing stroke of genius, decided to have an open casting call with a twist. They’re making it available to anyone with an internet connection. This should be interesting. Here’s some info from www.fox.com/glee/audition:

Glee Open Casting Call

Online Submissions Will Be Accepted
The executive producers of Glee will begin an online open casting search this February to fill three new roles that will be added to the show’s second season.
Auditions will be open to professional and amateur individuals between the ages of 16-26. All hopefuls will be able to submit auditions online. Additional details to be announced soon.

Detailed information isn’t up yet, but it should be soon since the casting search is scheduled to begin in Febuary. Also, note that although it was called a “nationwide” casting search, my sources at Fox tell me that it will be global and they’re accepting online auditions from all over the world.
