Trevor Live Report and Interviews with Kevin McHale and Dianna Agron

Sunday night I had the amazing opportunity to attend The Trevor Project’s Trevor Live 2011 as a member of the press for GleeFan.com. For those of you who don’t know what Trevor Live is, it’s a charity event which aims to raise awareness and garner support for LGBTQ youth. This year’s Trevor Live was a celeb studded event that was jam packed with skits, appearances, and performances from artists and actors spanning from Amy Poehler to Lady Gaga to Glee’s Amber Riley and Darren Criss.

trevor liveOn the day the event was hosted, I arrived at the Hollywood Palladium unsure of what to expect. This was my first time ever doing something of this magnitude. How does a red carpet work? Would I actually get to interview anyone? My questions were immediately answered once I checked in. I obtained my media pass and was directed towards GleeFan’s reserved spot on the red carpet. It was very cramped as all the press were only allotted a foot an a half of space each! The press to my right was Billboard.com and the media on my left was the official Trevor Project documentary! Not gonna lie, at first it was really intimidating, but as the day progressed, everything became more comfortable. Everyone in our corner was really friendly and we all shared tips and scoop! It was crazy!

trevor liveThe red carpet was very fast paced and combined with our less than stellar red carpet location, it was difficult to actually engage in interviews with many of the Glee Cast. By the time they reached our portion of the press line, their publicists would whisk them inside the theater. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to be able to conduct interviews with Dianna Agron, Kevin McHale, Adam Anders, Damian McGinty, and Cameron Mitchell.

Below is Dianna’s and Kevin’s interviews. Dianna discusses topics spanning from her upcoming project You, Me, & Charlie to her upcoming scenes with Rachel to the new direction Quinn is headed towards. Kevin chats with us about The Trevor Project, a Jackson family tribute, Kanye West, kilts and more!

Hope you enjoy these interviews with Dianna and Kevin! I’m swamped with final exams this week, but I just wanted to get this up before “Hold on to Sixteen” airs because they both give us some inside scoop about the episode! The interviews with Adam, Damian, and Cameron will be up some time next week. Also look out for photos from the event including “funny faces” with Dianna, Kevin, Cameron.

(Bear with me guys! I was doing this all alone, so if the camera is a little shaky or my hand is in shot, sorry!) I still cannot believe this legitimately happened.

The Trevor Project is a figuratively and literally a lifeline for LGBTQ teens. If you are in need of some support, make sure to check out The Trevor Project.

Episode VIII: A Gleeky Star Wars Christmas?

Chewbacca at Mckinley

A long time ago, in a galaxy state far, far away…

Chewbacca visits Lima, Ohio?

As a huge Star Wars fan, I was excited to check my GLEEonFOX Twitter list and find a Twitpic from Chord Overstreet revealing Chewbacca as the special guest for Season 3′s Christmas episode. Soon after Chord’s twitpic of Chewie in the middle of the Choir Room hit the web, the rest of the cast took to their Twitter’s to broadcast their excitement.

For Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron, and Jenna Ushkowitz the visit greatly impacted their lives.
Chewbacca at Mckinley with Kevin

Kevin tweeted:

So far this has been the best day ever.

Dianna, on the other hand, tweeted:

OK. Day made. Week made, actually.

Jenna took it one step further by saying it:

made my life!

Damian McGinty was equally excited and showed his geekier side:

Just had a serious fan boy moment this morning with @chordoverstreet …can’t believe who i just met!! @druidDUDE is in heaven!!

Check out Chewbacca’s photos with Kevin, Harry, Dianna, Chris, Jenna, and Mark as well as this awesome group photo.

What do you think Chewie is doing in the choir room? How are the writers going to be able to pull it off? Post your theories below!

Glee Gives Back with The Biggest Show

Young Storytellers FoundationGlee has teamed up with The Young Storytellers Foundation to continue spreading its message of arts education. Many of the core cast members including Cory Monteith, Kevin McHale, and Harry Shum Jr. will all participate in YSF’s annual event “The Biggest Show.”

YSF is a program that promotes the growth of free expression and literacy in unprivileged schools throughout the Los Angeles area. Since its establishment in 1997, professionals in the entertainment industry have all come together to mentor students in the arts through the act of screenwriting. Many of these mentors, including Glee‘s very own Brad Falchuk who happens to be a member of YSF’s board of directors, are either producers, screenwriters, or actors.

During this year’s “The Biggest Show,” members from the cast of Glee will perform screenplays written by students in the program. The event enables students the opportunity to see their hard work come to life.

Cory Monteith and Harry Shum Jr. revealed through their respective Twitter accounts that they were excited for the event, both tweeting:

Can’t wait to act in plays by 5th graders from @BFalchuk ‘s charity at @youngstory ‘s Biggest Show on 10/15! For tix: http://tinyurl.com/3lrvmsn

Other Glee cast members scheduled to perform are: Dot Marie Jones, Jayma Mays, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Naya Rivera. Other notable attendees are: Raven Symone (That’s So Raven), Kay Panabaker (Fame), Nicholas Braun (Prom), Trevor Donovan (90210), and Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid)

“The Biggest Show” will be held on October 15, 2011 at 6:00pm in Santa Monica, California. Individual tickets can be bought at EventBrite.com

Glee Casting Call for a New Hunk

Posted by Bonnie on Sep-17-2011 under Cast & Crew, Glee Episode Spoilers, News, Ryan Murphy

It looks like Glee fans have another new face to look forward to in the near future! According to Entertainment Weekly, writer and executive producer, Ryan Murphy has sent out yet another casting call in search of an ‘attractive male’ to keep consistent with the already good-looking cast.

Photo Credit: FOXThe casting call featured some other requirements to keep consistent with the current acting talent they already have, stating:

“Young man 18 and over to play 17. He is extremely handsome. Must be an excellent singer. HUGE guest star, MAJOR recurring role.”

It looks as if Murphy is looking for some other recurring roles for the upcoming season, too, including an Ohio State football recruiter, and of course Mike Chang’s parents and Emma Pillsbury’s parents.

Do you think you have what it takes to be the next major Glee star?

McKinley High Tackles a School Musical

Over the course of 2 Seasons of Glee, we’ve seen and heard our New Directions belt out show tunes from various beloved Broadway musicals such as Wicked and Rent. Now in Season 3, we finally get to see them partake in one.

Photo Credit: Glee's FacebookAccording to an interview with the The Hollywood Reporter at Fox‘s Eco Casino Party, Lea Michele revealed that McKinley High is producing a musical that the members of New Directions will be auditioning for. When asked what musical they were producing, she would not give any specifics, but Michele revealed:

[It's a] classic Broadway musical with one female lead and one male lead.

With that being said, drama is sure to ensue as the members of New Directions fight for the leads. In regards to Rachel Berry’s main objective, Michele revealed:

[Rachel is] vying for the lead in the school musical and she has a little competition with Mercedes (Amber Riley).

Not only is competition for the female lead stiff, the competition for the male lead is just as tough, if not more. Chris Colfer‘s Kurt, Cory Monteith‘s Finn, and Darren Criss‘ Blaine are all in the running for the top honor. Yes, you read that right! Blaine is auditioning for the musical! That means Blaine will eventually make the transfer over from Dalton Academy to McKinley High in Season 3.

One person notably missing from the competition for male lead is Kevin McHale‘s Artie. Instead of participating as an actor, Artie has been credited as co-producer of the musical alongside Dot Marie Jones‘ Coach Beiste and Jayma Mays‘ Ms. Pillsbury. The trio will be holding auditions and call backs to see who they’ll cast.

Glee yet again continues its streak of arts education by informing the viewers of the hardships that accompany an entertainment production. Some of the issues sure to arise during this new story arc is the heartbreak of not getting a part and the discrimination of typecasting. Colfer reveals that typecasting might have an influence on the casting decision. In regards to Kurt’s reaction to the situation, Colfer said:

It’s a really interesting learning process that he goes through, learning that people can’t see him as anything but him.

Will typecasting play a role in the outcome? Who do you think the trio will award the lead female and male roles? What musical do you want them to produce? Sound off below!

The first of The Glee Project winners to appear on Glee, Damian McGinty hit the studio today with director, Adam Shankman and music producer Alex Anders, who earlier tweeted this picture of the Irish singer.

Damian is set to play an exchange student named Rory, who moves in with Brittany’s family in episode 4, entitled ‘Pot O’ Gold’.

Any guesses as to what song the glee club will have Rory audition with?

Mike Chang’s Parents Revealed

Posted by Laura on Sep-06-2011 under Cast & Crew, Harry Shum, News, Pictures

Keong Sim & Tamlyn Tamito

Back in July it was revealed that, along with the appointing of Harry Shum Jr to a series regular status, we would also finally get to meet the parents of the ever graceful, yet somewhat vocally-challenged, Mike Chang. And it seems as though Ryan Murphy has stood true to his word.

It has today been revealed that Keong Sim and Tamlyn Tamito, who viewers may recognize from her role as Miwako Nishizawa on Law and Order: Los Angeles, are the two actors set to play Mr. and Mrs. Chang.

We already know the pair to be conservative after not allowing their son to adopt the role of Frank-N-Furter in the Glee club’s rendition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but what do you think their appearance this season will mean for Mike?

Vanessa Lengies & LaMarcus Tinker join the cast of Glee

Glee fans will notice at least two new faces when season 3 returns. Joining the cast in recurring roles are Vanessa Lengies, as “mean girl” Sugar, and LaMarcus Tinker, a loveable “Bubba” type. Despite being completely tone-deaf, it’s rumored that Sugar will have her sights set on joining New Directions. Vanessa previously held a role on American Dreams and can more recently be seen on TNT’s HawthoRNe. Tinker’s character is a member of the football team and will be a love interest for Mercedes. Viewers may recognize LaMarcus from his parts on Friday Night Lights and Cougar Town.

Follow Vanessa (@littlelengies) and LaMarcus (@lamarcustinker) on Twitter and welcome them to the Glee family!

Jane Lynch Marries Longtime Girlfriend

Posted by Dena on Jun-01-2010 under Cast & Crew, Jane Lynch

Sue Sylvester may not have yet found true love on Glee but Jane Lynch, most definitely has! Multiple sources have confirmed that Jane has finally wed her longtime girlfriend Lara Embry. Their vows were exchanged at the Blue Heron Restaurant in Sunderland, Massachusetts on Monday, May 31st. Massachusetts is one of the 5 states that allow same-sex marriage.

It was a small ceremony with 21 guests who feasted on their choice of duck or sea bass. The cake, a very important part of any wedding, was a 3-tiered vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling. The infamous Glee star confirmed the pending nuptials back in April.

Our congratulations goes out to Miss Lynch and her new bride!

Miley Cyrus on Glee – Billboard Magazine

Posted by Dena on Jun-01-2010 under Glee Guest Stars, Interviews

Ever wonder if Miley Cyrus may guest star on Glee one day, or even if they might slip in more of her songs, or dare I say it:  a Miley Cyrus-themed episode? Think again. Miley Cyrus has already let it be known to the public of her disinterest in the hit show.

As many avid fans may already know, the episode Laryngitis featured Rachel Berry attempting to sing her rendition of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, only to discover she has tonsillitis. When asked about her own thoughts of Glee, the Hannah Montana Star gave Billboard Magazine the following quote.

“Honestly, musicals? I just can’t.What if this was real life and I was just walking down the street on Rodeo Drive and all of a sudden I just burst into song about how much I love shoes?” There was then a pause, followed by laughter as she added in, “It would get hits on YouTube”.

The interview, in addition with the quotes above, can both be read in June’s issue of Billboard Magazine.
