It’s a sad day, Gleeks. The annual Glee tour will not be happening this year to allow the cast time to relax. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the Glee cast will receive a two month break, but a one-night benefit concert is being planned in California.
A spokesperson for Fox told The Hollywood Reporter, “We currently have no plans of touring the cast this summer.”
The one night event will be at the Hollywood Bowl and will raise money for Glee‘s Give a Note Foundation, which raises money for the arts education in middle schools and high schools. The goal is to raise $10 million this year.
The cast’s various projects would most likely interfere with the tour. Such projects include Chris’ new book as well as new movie. Also, Amber and Naya are gearing up for the release of their new albums.
It should be noted that Ryan Murphy, who usually goes on tour with the cast, is also extremely busy with his three other shows: The Glee Project, American Horror Story, and an upcoming comedy show called The New Normal on NBC.
What’re your thoughts on this announcement? Do you wish the cast were touring?

Good news, American Gleeks… Prepare for Glee Live! 2011! The Glee cast will be going on another concert tour this summer following the massive success of their tour last summer. While the amount of cities has grown, most of them only have one performance. Why? This year they won’t be in medium-sized venues like last summer, but massive arenas.
Get ready for a live Glee experience like never before.
More good news, if you’re a fan of Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet, they too will be joining in on the fun this summer. The show will feature new songs from Season Two, as well as some of our favorites from Season One. (Dont Stop Believin’, anyone?) Speaking as someone who attended last year, this event is not to be missed. I can only use one word to describe it: epic.
The following dates are currently on the schedule, but times are subject to change:
May 21 | Las Vegas, NV | Mandalay Bay Event Center
May 22 | Sacramento, CA | Arco Arena
May 24 | San Jose, CA | HP Pavilion
May 27 | Anaheim, CA | Honda Center
May 28 | Los Angeles, CA | Staples Center
May 29 | San Diego, CA | Valley View Casino Center
June 1 | Minneapolis, MN | Target Center
June 2 | Indianapolis, IN | Conseco Fieldhouse
June 3 | Chicago, IL | Allstate Arena
June 6 | Boston, MA | TD Garden
June 8 | Philadelphia, PA | Wells Fargo Center
June 11 | Toronto, Canada | Air Canada Centre
June 13 | Detroit, MI | Palace of Auburn Hills
June 14 | Cleveland, OH | Quicken Loans Arena
June 16 | East Rutherford, NJ | Izod Center
June 18 | Uniondale, NY | Nassau Colliseum
Tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday, February 19th. If you have an American Express card, you can buy your tickets on pre-sale February 11th.

Been itching for details on the tour?! Thanks to the ever-faithful Entertainment Weekly, wait no longer!
The tour will feature 15 to 18 musical numbers, all connected by a plot line involving New Directions’ rivalry with the cut-throat glee clubbers, Vocal Adrenaline. Ryan Murphy tells EW, “We made a decision to do our biggest hits because that’s what fans want to see. It’s a concert tour but it also has a story in it.”
So, what about these musical numbers? Apparently, in addition to the star’s costume designer, Glee has also managed to nab Lady Gaga’s SET designer for the concert tour! “It’s a huge stage. We’ve got multimedia. It’s really big.” Says Murphy. “Fox believes in it so much that they’ve hired the best people. It’s not about going out and selling out a lot of dates and making a lot of money. In fact, we won’t make any money with this first tour because we’ve put so much money into the set design. It’s really just a great thank you to our fans.”
No, Ryan Murphy, thank YOU! :)

The cities, venues, and dates for the much awaited Glee concert tour have finally been revealed! They were supposed to be announced at the end of January, but better late than never! ;)
Unfortunately, they are only going to 4 different cities. Also, the tour is taking place in May, when some of the younger Gleeks will still be in school. I wish that they were going to more cities, but seeing as this is their first concert tour, they probably need to see how well it goes before they plan a giant tour. If it’s extremely successful, who knows! Maybe we’ll be getting another tour when Season 2 is airing that will stop in more cities. One can only hope! :)
Here are the details that have been announced:
May 18 – Dodge Theater, Phoenix
May 20 – Gibson Amphitheatre, Los Angeles
May 21 – Gibson Amphitheatre, Los Angeles
May 25 – Rosemont Theater, Chicago
May 26 – Rosemont Theater, Chicago
May 28 – Radio City Music Hall, New York
May 29 – Radio City Music Hall, New York
Matthew Morrison said in the past that he “likes his summer vacations” and probably wont be on the tour. Why? He might make use of the downtime and start recording his own solo album. Also, it has been reported (by EW.com) that Jane Lynch will not be attending the tour either. Hopefully, we will still be able to see all of the glee kids performing!
You can buy your tickets online at Ticketmaster.com, but as of now, only some of the dates appear. Ticket sales will officially start on March 12 for the Phoenix performance, and the tickets for the rest of the stops will go on sale the following day.
EDIT: A new tour date as been added! The Glee cast will also be performing at 3:00 PM at Radio City Music Hall. Perhaps because all the other tickets sold out the presale? xP Remember to grab some!

Show Tracker, of the Los Angeles Times, got a chance to talk with the cast of Glee while they were at the final stop of The Gleek Tour. In it, they break some news about an exciting new monthly contest where you can win a trip to a taping of the show. Read the article for more info and make sure to check out the video interviews with the cast after the jump. (“Read the rest…”)
Video: The gleeks of ‘Glee’ spill storylines, songs and guest stars.
After winning over critics and fans alike with their special preview in May, the cast of “Glee” is ready to hit the ground running, one rousing musical performance at a time.
With the Sept. 9 season premiere only weeks away, we caught up with cast members on the final stop of their 10-city ‘Gleek’ tour at Hot Topic in Hollywood. The cast was tight-lipped but we managed to get the scoop on everything from a fake pregnancy (thank goodness Terri isn’t really preggers!) to possible new relationships (Finn and Rachel?) in addition to all the juicy details on upcoming guest stars and music picks.
For those who really can’t get enough “Glee” — and especially those with a knack for karaoke — Show Tracker has learned exclusively from MySpace that starting Sept. 9, MySpace Karaoke will host monthly “Glee” club contests where fans can perform tunes from that night’s episode to win a trip to Hollywood to see a taping of the show.
So what can we expect from the glee club members this year? Who are the cast’s favorite guest stars so far? What recent radio hits have made it onto the cast’s wish list of performances? And who might be joining the glee club?! Watch our video interviews with the cast after the jump to find out all that and more.

Here’s a hilarious video made from what I’m assuming is the flip video footage that the cast has been taking throughout the tour. Thanks to E! Online.
