Posted by Jon on Dec-11-2011 under Cast & Crew, Chord Overstreet, Glee Guest Stars

Photo Credit:Things are about to get real at McKinley High. NeNe Leakes, one of the stars of Real Housewives of Atlanta, was spotted on the Glee set earlier this month wearing a red-and-black tracksuit, which as we all know are the colors of our favorite fictional high school.

Although there’s not yet an official press release, rumor is that NeNe has been cast in the role of Roz Washington, Sam’s synchronized swim coach. We’ll keep you posted when we know for sure whether or not this news is official, but until then… how do you feel about a Real Housewife joining the cast?

Go Behind the Scenes of Next Week’s “Hold On To Sixteen”

Posted by Mary on Dec-05-2011 under Behind The Scenes, Cast & Crew, Chord Overstreet, Interviews, Media, News, Videos

It looks like Trouty Mouth has definitely been working hard while away from Lima! A behind the scenes video of Sam Evans‘ return to McKinely was just released on Glee‘s YouTube channel. Sam is back and he’s brought some super skimpy shorts with him as he is now a stripper going by the name White Chocolate. Chord Overstreet also discussed his first performance back saying that “Red Solo Cup” by Toby Keith is a really fun and funny to perform. Check out the behind the scenes video below:

What’re your thoughts on Sam’s return and new profession?

Trouty Mouth, Trouty… Fins?

Posted by Jon on Dec-05-2011 under Cast & Crew, Chord Overstreet, Glee Episode Spoilers, News

Photo Credit:Between his infamous gold short shorts and an upcoming turn as White Chocolate, you’d think that Chord Overstreet has put in more than his fair share of time as the shirtless eye candy around Glee. Think again! It looks like the writers are committed to getting Sam’s pesky clothes packed safely away.

In a bid to win back the heart of ex-girlfriend Mercedes, Sam will join the synchronized swim team in mid-January. Of course, with a new sports team come new characters, including Sam’s fellow swimmers Webber, Charles, and Vinny, who have yet to be cast.

And don’t be surprised if a familiar face pops up around McKinley High– casting directors are looking for a “well-known comedic character actress” to play Coach Roz Washington. What do you think, “Glee” fans? Is this a good way to win the girl or should Sam keep his feet on dry land?

Watch the Troubletones’ Sectionals Performance & the Return of Sam Evans!

Posted by Genica on Dec-02-2011 under Glee Episode Previews, Glee Episode Spoilers, Media, News, Videos

It looks like Santana is following the footsteps of her rumored mommy! The Troubletones’ Sectionals performance in the episode “Hold on to Sixteen” was just released on Glee’s Vevo account. It’s an epic mashup of the woman empowerment songs “Survivor” and “I Will Survive.” The former was originally sung by Destiny’s Child and the latter was orignally sung by Santana’s soon to be mom Gloria Estafen.

Not gonna lie, I’m not sure who I’m root for to win Sectionals. New Directions is my first love, but the Troubletones keeps nailing their performances. Plus, those outfits? Probably one of my favorites since season one’s Regionals.

Also released to Glee‘s Vevo was Sam Evan’s long awaited return to McKinley High. Sam played by Chord Overstreet sings the country song “Red Solo Cup” originally sung by Toby Keith’s. Check out both performances below:

I don’t know about you guys, but I am loving these weekly sneak peaks!

As we all know, the long awaited return of Chord Overstreet’s character, Sam Evans, is not too far away, and it looks like Sam won’t be arriving alone. Smallville actor, John Schneider has been cast in the role of Sam’s father.

Schneider will make his Glee debut in episode eight and so far, has only signed on for one episode.

Now the question remains, who do you think should play Sam’s mom?

Posted by Laura on Oct-18-2011 under Chord Overstreet, Glee Episode Spoilers, News

Gleeks rejoice! Chord Overstreet is in final talks to reprise his role as Sam Evans on a recurring basis. According to Michael Ausiello of TVline.com :

Assuming the deal closes — and I’m told it definitely will — Overstreet will reprise his role as the sweet, sculpted Sam beginning with this season’s eighth episode (tentatively scheduled to air in early December).

It is unclear as of yet how Sam will be re-introduced, but it will be interesting to see if, and indeed how, his return will affect Mercedes’ new relationship with current squeeze, Shane.

Are you excited to see Sam back at McKinley High?

Darren Criss & Harry Shum Jr. Promoted to Series Regulars, Chord Overstreet Not

Posted by Rob on Jul-01-2011 under Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss, Harry Shum, News

TVLine‘s Michael Ausiello brings us some news that has Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. fans breathing a sigh of relief, but has upset the fans of season two addition Chord Overstreet. Check out what Ausiello has to say below:

Glee CastIt’s a case of good news/bad news for Glee fans.

First the good: Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) have officially been upgraded to full-time series regulars, effective this fall with the start of Season 3.

And now for the not so good news…

Chord Overstreet‘s series regular option has not been picked up. However, a source close to the show says the actor — who joined the Fox hit last fall in the recurring role of McKinley transfer student Sam Evans — could return as an occasional guest star.

For the rest of the article, check out: Glee Exclusive: Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. In, Chord Overstreet Out!TVLine

It appears that we may have seen the last Sam Evans on Glee. What do you think?

Update: In a recent Ask Ausiello, Michael says, “And to all those inquiring about the status of Ashley Fink, her rep assures me that she will be back on a recurring basis next season.” Phew! I don’t think we could afford to lose another member of the New Directions! We’re glad to hear we’ll be seeing more of Lauren Zizes come fall.

Speculations on Kurt’s Future Boyfriend: The Sam vs. Blair Controversy

Posted by Rob on Sep-23-2010 under Cast & Crew, Chris Colfer, Glee Episode Spoilers, Glee Guest Stars, News, Videos

Kurt HummelOne of the extremely hot topics among Gleeks right now is the debate over who will be Kurt Hummel’s future boyfriend. I think we can all agree that after all he’s been through, he deserves to find love. The real question is who will it be with. In this post I’m going to both summarize and theorize on who I think it will be, and I hope that you will do the same in the comments section below, because that’s what it’s there for. We want to know what you guys think, too!

First of all, the idea of Kurt getting a boyfriend originated way back in January when the online casting call concept was still green-lit. Ryan Murphy was quoted by Ausiello as saying, “We’re going to make them a power couple. We’re not going to do the whole hiding in the shadows thing. We’re going to make them popular, and out and proud and glamorous. Like prom king and king. We’re doing the opposite of what’s been done.” Later that month, Ausiello cryptically revealed that the character would also be on the football team. The most convincing bit of evidence that Sam was, at least at one point, planned to be Kurt’s boyfriend is this: long before Chord Overstreet had been cast, Chris Colfer revealed to a fan that the name of Kurt’s boyfriend would be Sam. (Sorry you got in trouble, Chris!)

Chord OverstreetThe turning point where the cast became so tight-lipped about the subject (with a little coaching, I’m sure) was when the character Sam was officially announced through a press release from Fox stating that he would be played by Chord Overstreet. When briefly describing him, it said nothing of him potentially being a love interest for anyone, which we should have taken as the first sign. Almost instantly, the cast began to pull those famous “I don’t know!/They don’t tell us anything!/We don’t know until we get the scripts!” lines. You may have noticed that when Chris was asked about the boyfriend character having been casted yet at Glee‘s Academy Event, he stumbled thorough his response: “I don’t know if the person– I don’t know how to answer this question safely.” He then looked to the producers and instantly switched to a “No… I don’t know anything” response. It’s obvious that he was under the impression that Chord would be the boyfriend, but wasn’t exactly sure what he was allowed to say. (Poor Chris!) Could that much have really changed since July? This wouldn’t be the first time that Ryan Murphy has tried to keep us on our toes [read: lied to us] so that a future plotline wouldn’t be prematurely revealed.

The most recent bean-spilling was done by Jane Lynch, who obviously missed the ‘mum’s the word’ briefings. When E!’s Mark Malkin asked about the character, she replied “”They’ve cast him already… He becomes the new star quarterback and he’s going to be Kurt’s boyfriend.” Jane went on to describe him as “a good-looking kid… He’s tall, boyish, with straight blond hair and big fat, pouty lips.” Big fat, pouty lips? Yeah, she was definitely referring to Sam “Big Mouth” Evans, no doubt about it. In a TV Guide interview with Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer at the Emmys, Jane admits she later was told, “Don’t spill the beans on that!” to which she added, “Also, there may be no beans to spill.” However it could very well be possible that she just wasn’t up to date. The evidence is overwhelming that Sam was originally meant to be Kurt’s boyfriend, but now even I’m beginning to think it’s possible that they’ve changed the plan.

Now comes the real game changer: Blair. Who is that, you may be asking…? As revealed by TV Guide’s William Keck, the producers are now looking to cast a new character for the show’s 6th episode. Time wise, that means they would need to have started (if not completed) the casting hunt by now. The character, Blair, is described as “a gay high school junior” who is “masculine, sexy, charismatic and handsome…” He will become a recurring character who gets the opportunity to sing in multiple episodes, and here’s the kicker, is in a rival glee club. Very recently, an audition video surfaced online that is supposedly for the character Blair. [Edit: It has been announced that the name of the 6th episode is "Never Been Kissed," which is titled after a film sharing a very similar plot line to the 6th episode. This further confirms that this audition footage is legitimate.] The video features a relatively unknown actor by the name of Brian Hissong reading for the role of Blair. Remember that just because he’s reading it in the audition video does not mean that he has been cast. If they want to get the casting just right, the producers and casting agents would go through numerous audition videos before making a decision, and this may or may not have been the person they went/are going with.

NOTE: Do NOT watch this video if you do not want to be spoiled. It features very plot intensive lines that may or may not appear in the final script of the 6th episode.

The video was originally on YouTube before being “removed by the user,” however, it has been reuploaded on Chinese YouTube equivalent, YouKu. I went ahead and embedded it, but here’s no telling how long it will be before this one gets pulled as well.

From the video, we can deduce that Kurt goes undercover as “Billy” and infiltrates the opposing school’s glee club. Incognito, Kurt befriends Blair and his friends before eventually being discovered. But when Kurt believes that they are actually going to beat him up for spying, they reveal that they figured it out a while ago and found how bad a spy he was to be kind of “endearing.” It is then revealed that at Blair’s school, they do not bully people for being gay — a stark contrast to Kurt’s experiences in the halls of McKinley. When Blair explains that he is gay, Kurt talks about how hard it is being the only openly gay kid back at his own school. Then the whole thing gets a little too “after school special” for my taste with a serious little speech from Blair.

There’s a part of me that is praying that “Blair” is an extremely clever ploy to throw people off. People have been theorizing that Blair will be a couple episode character arc, while something with Sam could develop much later on. Back at Comic-Con 2010, Chris told Ausiello that he “heard they might be leaning towards another storyline more, which would delay that.” He then added that the new delay might be “provocative.” Could this speed bump along the way to love be a short-lived story arc with Blair? I’m hoping so. [Edit: It has been said that Quinn will somehow play a part in Kurt's future relationship, and the best theory is that Sam will be with her before an eventual relationship with Kurt.] For these reasons, Sam/Kurt fans shouldn’t lose hope just yet.

As of now, it appears that neither character fully describes the original plan for Kurt’s boyfriend. While Sam is on the football team, an early spoiler that may have since been trashed, he certainly doesn’t fit Ryan Murphy’s “out and proud” description. Murphy may have decided that Sam wasn’t the right character to be Kurt’s boyfriend, thus creating Blair. It wouldn’t be the first time that the producers have changed their minds about a character. (Did anyone else notice that the New Directions “family” took Matt Rutherford’s transfer surprisingly well?) At this point, it looks like Sam as originally described doesn’t exist. I think Chord Overstreet is doing a great job with Sam right now, so I’m still praying that he turns out to be the one. (It looks like I’m not alone on that. Yay, Kistin!)

In “Audition,” they addressed how as the new guy, Sam isn’t comfortable with being too different just yet, therefore deciding against joining New Directions (for now). Maybe this insecurity about being different goes a lot deeper than we see in the Season 2 premiere; or maybe not. It’s anyone’s guess at this point, so what’s yours?

The ULTIMATE Season 2 Spoiler Round-Up!

Posted by Tinkers on Aug-04-2010 under Cast & Crew, Glee Episode Spoilers, Glee Guest Stars, News

I now present to you, a HUGE HUGE round-up of every Season 2 spoiler you could ever need in your life! If you haven’t been keeping track of all the interviews, press events, panels, and just general hype, have no fear! This post is brought to you by TheGLEEkSpot’s tumblr, with the latest news added!

New Characters:

  • Kurt gets a boyfriend. An “everyday guy.” He’s going to be struggling with his sexuality and Kurt is going to help him through this. Ryan wants them to be prom king and prom king. This plot line is apparently delayed past the first few episodes.*
  • A christian country singer (a la Carrie Underwood) is supposed to come on. No word on how big this role is going to be. She’s also supposed to have a pretty big problem with Kurt and his boyfriend being gay.
  • Sam Elliot will be played by Chord Overstreet. Sam is a football player. Finn will take Sam under his wing, and will utlimately become Finn’s rival. He will also have a special relationship with Quinn.
  • Mercedes gets a love interest, too. A “male version of herself” (Can you say killer duets?)
  • Charice will be guest starring as a foreign exchange student and a rival to Rachel. Her character, Sunshine, will start out very small but as the season progresses she will get bigger. Charice starts filiming on July 28th with the rest of the cast, so she will be in the first episode.
  • Dot Jones will playing Shannon Beiste (pronounced BEEST) the new football coach, replacing Ken Tanaka, who will no longer be on Glee.
  • Cheyenne Jackson will be replacing Idina Menzel’s role as the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline. This will be a major, recurring role.
  • John Stamos will have a recurring role as Emma’s dentist boyfriend.
  • Javier Bardem will appear as a rock star who befriends Artie. “We’re going to rock the house,” the 41-year-old Gleek tells EW. “We’re going to do some heavy metal — Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.”
  • Comedy legend Carol Burnett is said to be in the works for the role of Sue Sylvester’s Nazi-hunting mother. Nothing is confirmed yet, but really, how could they pass up Carol Burnett?

*They’re saying that Sam Elliot is NOT Kurt’s boyfriend. Our theory? They’re pulling back on all the hype so Sam can have a surprise “coming out” moment. The same way Idina being Rachel’s mother was a surprise.

Chord Overstreet Joins “Glee” as Sam

Posted by Rob on Jul-26-2010 under Cast & Crew, Chris Colfer, Glee Guest Stars, News

Update [9/23]: Click here to read about the controversy over whether or not Sam Evans, played by Chord Overstreet, will become Kurt’s future boyfriend.

Chord OverstreetThe long awaited casting decision for Kurt’s boyfriend, Sam, has finally been revealed. The character which has, in the past, been described as Kurt’s potential boyfriend will be played by Chord Overstreet, who is still fairly new on the acting scene. He’s had a couple guest starring roles in shows such as iCarly and the upcoming No Ordinary Family, but Sam should be his biggest role to date. It’s been announced that he will appear in the season-premiere, and Glee co-producer Dante Di Loreto has confirmed via Twitter that he’ll be in “some early new episodes” of Season 2.

In a recent Comic-Con interview with Michael Ausiello, the cast had a few things to say about the upcoming storyline. “Actually, I’ve heard that they might be leaning towards another storyline which would delay that,” Chris Colfer tells Ausiello. “I’ve heard that it might be provocative, though.” Amber speculated, “He may still find love, but he may not have a boyfriend.” Kevin said, “I want to see a boyfriend, though,” which the rest of the cast collectively agreed with. “I think we all do,” Jenna added.

We didn’t know too much about Sam before, but we did know that he’s supposed to be an openly gay football player at McKinley who eventually becomes Kurt’s love interest in the show. Fox’s latest press release has added that he starts off as a sort of protégé to Finn, but eventually becomes his competition. Could this be the storyline which causes the delay for the character’s budding romance with Kurt? Possibly.

To find out more about Chord, visit his IMDB page, check out his MySpace (with a song likely sung by his father), or catch him in the online web series, Private.
