Shelly’s Glee Signing Adventure

If you follow me on Twitter (@GleekRob), then you would know that we now have a LA rep for GleeFan.com! I have known Shelly for a while now through our sister site, GleeForum.com, and she is awesome! She lives in the LA area and has had the chance to go to multiple Glee events, including the screening of the second episode and Q&A at Outfest 2009 and the taping of episode 13, “Sectionals”. If you have a Twitter account, make sure to follow her! (@GleekShelly)

Here is her report of her most recent adventure at the Glee soundtrack signing at The Grove in LA. The rest of the report is after the jump. Enjoy! :)

I arrived at The Grove at around 3 pm, and was told to line up down the block from Barnes and Noble and Banana Republic. There was already a massive line down the side of the store and around the corner – the first group in line had gotten there at around 11 am.

Craziness.

They sold 400 lettered green wristbands, which guaranteed admittance, and about 200 yellow “standby” wristbands. At one point, Teri Hatcher walked down past all of the Gleeks waiting in line. Totally random, but maybe she and/or her kids are Glee fans?

Sorry it’s kind of hard to see, but that’s the top half of her head behind the guy in plaid.

Anyway, I was in group M, the last of the green wristbands to be let in. They walked us into the building at around 5 pm and led us to another line, which snaked around through the building and up two stories.

The signing table was set up in the corner of the third floor.

The cast took a fifteen minute break just before it was my turn to meet them. Here’s a video of their return:

Cory.

Blurry :(, but Jenna is smiling at the camera.

Amber and Dianna had announced that they wouldn’t be there today via Twitter, but a lot of fans were surprised and disappointed when they found out that Lea wasn’t there either. According to her Twitter, she was at home sick in bed. :( We definitely missed her, but we all hope she gets better soon! As for the rest of the cast, they all seemed a bit tired, but genuinely excited and happy to meet all of their fans. Kevin complimented me on my “GleeForum.com Staff” t-shirt. I told Jenna that I was from GleeFan/Forum, and she said she remembered seeing Rob’s tweet about the signing and how he told us all to have fun today. My friend asked Jenna if she could sign her CD to “other Asian,” and she did!

XD

Next was Chris. We talked about his upcoming interview with GleeFan, and he said he was pretty excited about it, so look out for that. Some fans ahead of me in line got hugs from Mark, but other than that, he didn’t say much; just smiled and thanked everyone for coming. Last but not least was Cory. We talked about Tegan and Sara (he had tweeted about going to their show in LA and I told him that they were my favorite band), and he said that they were awesome and that he used to play in a band with Ted Gowans, their guitarist. Cool! Meeting the entire cast took a total of about thirty seconds, so it was definitely very rushed, but totally understandable considering the amount of people that were there. There was still a huge standby line outside, and they probably wanted to meet as many fans as possible. I didn’t stick around for too long afterwards, but from what I could tell it looked like they got through almost everyone.
