More soulful, sweet music from our favorite Warbler is coming your way! Darren Criss‘ brother, Chuck, tweeted earlier today that he and his brother were working on a Bob Dylan cover. The song will be featured on an upcoming Bob Dylan tribute album with proceeds going towards Amnesty International. The album will be in celebration of Bob Dylan’s 70th birthday and Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary.
Which Bob Dylan song would you like to hear Chuck and Darren cover?

For those of you were dying to see Artie perform a heart-wrenching rendition of Use Somebody…this most recent news will shut you down.
While Glee has made use of dozens of hit artists’ music (Madonna, Lady Gaga, Neil Diamond, and The Rolling Stones to name a few), and with many other artists begging for their music to be covered (cough Paul McCartney) their most recent musical attempt has been unceremoniously denied.
Kings of Leon, when approached by Glee producers with hopes of using their music, slammed the door in their faces.
“We could have sold out so much more. We turn stuff down constantly,” says the band’s bassist, Jared Followill. The band says they’ve never watched Glee. “Although apparently everyone loves it,” remarks frontman Caleb Followill, ever so knowlegable.
They’re not lying about the turning down. Apparently, the band also shut down another hit comedy with thousands of adoring fans: “We got an offer to appear on an episode of Ugly Betty. They wanted us to play ourselves.” But they said no.
The band went on to further confirm the selectivity of their musical privileges: “We had some people call us up wanting to know if we’d allow Use Somebody to appear in the trailer for their next movie, and we turned them down,” Caleb Followill tells NME magazine. “Next day, they called back and tried to put us through to the star of the movie—I won’t name names, but he’s an incredibly famous actor—to let him try and convince us to agree to do it. I was like, ‘Man, don’t even waste your energy’.”
In a bizzare twist of events, Gossip Girl was deemed worthy of the band’s hit music. An episode in 2008 featured three songs from their album Only By the Night: Closer, Sex on Fire, and Use Somebody.
What do you think? Were you dying to hear these corporate rock gods? Or are you content with the already diverse supply of classics already available for cover? Like, say, Queen?

Tampa Bay Online has posted an interesting article on Adam Anders, Glee‘s music producer, all about his rearing in Tampa, his past works, and his arrangements on the show! Check it out below.
TAMPA – “Glee” music producer Adam Anders says working on the Fox Broadcasting hit is like putting together a stage production of “Grease” — in a week.
For each episode, he has just over a week to whip six to eight songs into shape for the comical musical drama, which follows the lives and loves of glee club geeks and their teachers at fictional McKinley High.
“It’s intense but so rewarding when it all comes together,” says Anders who will have arranged more than 150 songs over the course of the 22-episode season.
“Glee,” from “Nip/Tuck” creator Ryan Murphy, was the surprise new hit of the fall. It returns at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday for the second half of its freshman season.
Update 3/1/10: And the winner is… Anthony P C!
Congrats, Anthony! We’ll have Kerry burn you your free CD and send you some signed sheet music, too! :)
Thanks to everyone who entered! —————
You probably remember our interview with Kerry Muzzey from last week and we’re happy to say that his new album is now finally out! It is called “Home Movies 2″, and I have been listening to it non-stop for days. I’m in love with it! It wasn’t going to be on iTunes for a while, but after all of the positive responses, iTunes rushed it to live status. Talk about the power of the Gleeks!
The following songs on the album are actually inspired by some of Kerry’s (and our) favorite scenes from Glee:
Emma
Lunch Table for One
Chalk it Up to Fate
Mixed Signals
Ten Seconds
The Tentative Flirtations of a High School Guidance Counselor
The Truth Hurts
Where There’s a Will
As you can tell, some of them are a little subtler than others. (Haha, The Tentative Flirtations of a High School Guidance Counselor… xD) If you want to buy it on iTunes, it is available here: Kerry Muzzey – Home Movies 2. Also, it’s available on other digital music marketplaces, including Amazon.com.
As a thank you to all the Glee fans who loved “Looking Back” on Glee, Kerry will be giving away a free copy of his latest CD, including some signed sheet music! :D All you have to do is leave a comment below and we will contact the lucky winner by email. Or, you can send me an email at rob@gleefan.com to be entered! Good luck! (more…)
The second Glee soundtrack, Glee: The Music, Volume 2, is set to be released on December 8th, 2009 by Columbia Records. It will feature songs from episodes 9 -13 (“Wheels” through “Sectionals”) and will not be the last soundtrack for season one.
Personally, I cannot wait for “True Colors” and “My Life Would Suck Without You!” And co-creator Brad Falchuk says that the cast performance of “Imagine,” which is a collaboration with a deaf choir, is truly something special. “I’m warning you to prepare for that,” says Falchuk. “There’s been no one who’s watched that number and not cried. It’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen.”
Here is the entire track listing, in the order they will air: (more…)
Note: Cast members will only be signing copies of the Glee CD. One item signed per person.

Update: According to Dante Di Lorento (producer, @GleeTV), both Walmart and Target will be selling special editions of the new soundtrack. What’s so special, you might ask? According to Walmart.com, their version contains three bonus karaoke versions of “Take A Bow”, “Gold Digger”, and “Somebody To Love”. Instead, the Target version includes the Acafellas’ “I Wanna Sex You Up,” Jayma Mays’ “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and Matthew Morrison’s “Leaving On a Jet Plane.” Lastly, iTunes includes the bonus track of the Cheerios’ performance of “Say a Little Prayer.” Definitely worth the trips to Target and Wally World, in my opinion. ;)
Update 2: Here’s a video recorded by Amber Riley from today’s signing! :)
How would you like to win the grand prize of a free trip for two to Hollywood to visit the set of Glee? Also, 1 second prize winner will get $250 worth of Glee merchandise and 10 third prize winners will receive $15 iTunes gift cards. All you have to do is record yourself singing your own karaoke version of Rehab, Take a Bow, Push It, Gold Digger, or Can’t Fight this Feeling. Go here (or click the link above) to enter or get more details. Good luck and have fun singing!
