Episode VIII: A Gleeky Star Wars Christmas?

Chewbacca at Mckinley

A long time ago, in a galaxy state far, far away…

Chewbacca visits Lima, Ohio?

As a huge Star Wars fan, I was excited to check my GLEEonFOX Twitter list and find a Twitpic from Chord Overstreet revealing Chewbacca as the special guest for Season 3′s Christmas episode. Soon after Chord’s twitpic of Chewie in the middle of the Choir Room hit the web, the rest of the cast took to their Twitter’s to broadcast their excitement.

For Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron, and Jenna Ushkowitz the visit greatly impacted their lives.
Chewbacca at Mckinley with Kevin

Kevin tweeted:

So far this has been the best day ever.

Dianna, on the other hand, tweeted:

OK. Day made. Week made, actually.

Jenna took it one step further by saying it:

made my life!

Damian McGinty was equally excited and showed his geekier side:

Just had a serious fan boy moment this morning with @chordoverstreet …can’t believe who i just met!! @druidDUDE is in heaven!!

Check out Chewbacca’s photos with Kevin, Harry, Dianna, Chris, Jenna, and Mark as well as this awesome group photo.

Glee Gives Back with The Biggest Show

Young Storytellers FoundationGlee has teamed up with The Young Storytellers Foundation to continue spreading its message of arts education. Many of the core cast members including Cory Monteith, Kevin McHale, and Harry Shum Jr. will all participate in YSF’s annual event “The Biggest Show.”

YSF is a program that promotes the growth of free expression and literacy in unprivileged schools throughout the Los Angeles area. Since its establishment in 1997, professionals in the entertainment industry have all come together to mentor students in the arts through the act of screenwriting. Many of these mentors, including Glee‘s very own Brad Falchuk who happens to be a member of YSF’s board of directors, are either producers, screenwriters, or actors.

During this year’s “The Biggest Show,” members from the cast of Glee will perform screenplays written by students in the program. The event enables students the opportunity to see their hard work come to life.

Cory Monteith and Harry Shum Jr. revealed through their respective Twitter accounts that they were excited for the event, both tweeting:

Can’t wait to act in plays by 5th graders from @BFalchuk ‘s charity at @youngstory ‘s Biggest Show on 10/15! For tix: http://tinyurl.com/3lrvmsn

Other Glee cast members scheduled to perform are: Dot Marie Jones, Jayma Mays, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Naya Rivera. Other notable attendees are: Raven Symone (That’s So Raven), Kay Panabaker (Fame), Nicholas Braun (Prom), Trevor Donovan (90210), and Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid)

“The Biggest Show” will be held on October 15, 2011 at 6:00pm in Santa Monica, California. Individual tickets can be bought at EventBrite.com

Jenna, Jayma, and Heather Discuss Season 3 With AfterElton.com

Posted by Mary on Sep-09-2011 under Cast & Crew, Heather Morris, Interviews, Jayma Mays, Jenna Ushkowitz

AfterElton.com has interviewed plenty of actors on Glee since the show’s inception, including Mike O’Malley, Darren Criss and Mark Salling, but they had never interviewed the ladies until now. While at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, writer Michael Jensen caught up with Heather Morris, Jayma Mays, and Jenna Ushkowitz to discuss what would happen in Season 3 with each of their characters.

Heather Morris as Brittany, Jenna Ushkowitz as Tina, and Jayma Mays as Emma

Heather Morris, who plays everyone’s favorite ditzy cheerleader Brittany Pierce, said that “it would be cool if she had a sensitive side with Artie. Get her opinions about things like Artie.”

She also discussed the infamous Fondue for Two skits that appeared in the Rumours episode. Heather said:

“I loved Fondue for Two. So that would be fun to watch. I love doing that. It’s the best time for me to be able to just go off.”

And who would Britney’s dream Fondue For Two guest be?

“Maybe like the school mascot or something. That would be funny.”

After chatting with Heather, Michael stroke up a conversation with Jenna Ushkowitz, who plays Tina Cohen-Chang. While Jenna doesn’t know much about what will happen with her character in Season 3, she did say she has on song in particular she would love to sing, saying:

“Amber and I would love to sing ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ together. We love Adele.”

Finally, Michael spoke to Jayma Mays, who portrays Emma Pillsbury.  When asked what will happen with the OCD-ridden school guidance counselor in Season 3, Jayma said:

“Well she actually admitted that she had an issue with OCD and she was a germaphobe, and she actually sought out help for that and she’s already taking medicine. I’m not an expert on this in any way, but from what research I’ve done, I know sometimes medicine helps people and sometimes it doesn’t. So for me I’m just really interested to see where they decide to take that storyline. And how much that helps her and how that’s going to help her relationship develop with Will. Yeah, that’s all really interesting to me. That’s going to be a good arc for the character.”

We already know that Season 3 will focus more on the characters and their storylines this season, so what are you wanting to see in terms of Brittany, Tina, and Emma’s story?

Glee Cast Partners with Vogue for ‘Fashion’s Night Out’

Stars of Glee have partnered with Vogue to promote the third annual ‘Fashion’s Night Out’, a global fashion event that combines the fashion of top designers with the star power of celebrities with the excitement of reinventing yourself with unique takes on the latest trend. “For the third year in a row, celebrities, designers, and stars will perform and mingle with shoppers as they take part in FNO-exclusive events and snap up special designs.”

FNO will feature designers and brands frequently seen on Glee characters and Glee stars alike, including Anthopologie, Betsey Johnson, J. Crew, and Juicy Couture, among others, during the September 8th event. But before that, Glee stars released a similarly stylish PSA. The PSA, which aired August 23, featured Lea Michele covering David Bowie’s song ‘Fashion’ along with the rest of the cast, in a video designed by Vogue editor Tabitha Simmons.

Shelly’s Summer Glee Events Recap!

Shelly, one of our LA reps, definitely had a busy summer. Make sure that you’re following her on Twitter (@GleekShelly) as she regularly live Tweets from Glee events. Here is her recap of all the Glee events she got to go to over the summer:

This past summer, I was fortunate enough to attend several Glee events in the LA area. Here are some brief recaps and photos/videos from my adventures. Enjoy!

Heather Morris at Art4LifeMay 31st – 4th annual Art4Life benefit show at Club Level 3, Hollywood. Art4Life was founded in 2007 by Gina Starbuck, who created the organization to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society in honor of her father. You can find out more about it here: www.Art4LifeLA.com. This was my second Art4Life event (Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, and Dianna Agron hosted last year’s show), and I’ve always been impressed with not only the amazing performances, but also the amount of talented actors and musicians who donate their time and effort to such a wonderful cause. This year’s hosts were comedian Ryan Hill, actress Francia Raisa (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) and our very own Heather Morris. The trio did a great job of running the show, which included performances by cast members of Wicked, So You Think You Can Dance, and America’s Best Dance Crew. Check out my pictures below:

Jane Lynch at OutfestJuly 10thA Conversation with Jane Lynch, hosted by Outfest (the LA Gay and Lesbian Film Festival). For almost two hours, Jane talked to a sold out auditorium about her personal life, her career leading up to Glee, and everything in between. She was, as always, hilarious, charismatic, and engaging. I’ll let the video highlights speak for themselves:

Sue Sylvester Wax Figure LaunchAugust 4thSue Sylvester wax figure launch at Madame Tassauds Hollywood. Jane Lynch, Ian Brennan, and Iqbal Theba were present at the unveiling of Glee’s first ever wax figure. The John Burroughs High School Powerhouse (the real-life inspiration for the show, and the group that was featured on the Glee episode of Oprah) opened the event with a few performances of songs from Glee. They were followed by Ian Brennan, who introduced Jane, and finally by Jane herself, who, like all of us in the press and audience, was seeing the figure for the first time. Here’s a video of Ian’s introduction, the unveiling, and Jane’s reaction:

After posing for photos and doing several interviews with the press, Jane was kind enough to come out and sign autographs and take pictures with the hundreds of fans who had come out to Hollywood to see her.

Dianna Agron at A Spelling Bee for CheatersAugust 14th826LA’sA Spelling Bee for Cheaters,” Lincoln Middle School, Santa Monica. Dianna Agron and many others were present at this fundraiser for 826LA, an organization dedicated to putting on tutoring and writing programs for children in the LA area. For those of you who are unclear about what exactly the event was, you can read the description and rules here. In addition to being hilariously adorable, Dianna was also the overall top fundraiser. Go Dianna! Here’s a video of her highlights, and some photos I took:

Jenna, Kevin & Heather at Macy'sAugust 21stGlee Clothing Line Launch at Macy’s, Beverly Center. Heather Morris, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Kevin McHale were there to sign autographs for every Gleek who showed up and spent at least $50 on Glee merchandise. The new clothes look awesome, and it was fun watching the cast interact with their fans. I can say with confidence that they’re some of the nicest, most genuine people in the business. Towards the end of the event, I got a chance to talk to Jenna, and when I told her that I was from GleeFan.com, she gave Rob a shout out and recognized me as “GleekShelly!” That definitely made my day and was a great end to an amazing summer of Glee. :)

Rob’s Report: Breakfast with Glee at Z100 – An Elvis Duran Show & iheartradio Event

NYC On Friday, May 28, 2010, my day started by stepping off of a Greyhound bus and into New York City for the first time in my life. After only an hour or so to go check out the hotel we would be checking into later that day, it was time to head off to the P.C. Richard & Son Theater in Tribeca. As a sort of last minute surprise, I was able to bring my friend Emily Zhang with me, so that’s who you’ll see me with in the pictures. She was going to stay back and do something else, but I was able to get her an entry thanks to the awesome people at iheartradio. We took the subway from 50th to Canal St., and stood in the line that was forming outside of the building. I texted my contact at iheartradio, saying that I was there, and she came out to get me! We got to bypass most of the line and we came inside to get a sneak peek of the theater before everyone else was allowed in. It was set up to look like a classroom, but they chalkboards had hilarious caricature drawings of all the cast members. I remember that when Amber saw the one of her, she commented on how big her head was. Hehe…

iheartradio Glee Interview

Click the image above to see a photogallery of images of the event from iheartradio...

Right before it started, we got to save our seats in the theater. We sat in the second row (I believe that the 1st row was reserved for employees) and we got wristbands so that we could leave and come back in easily. We dropped our stuff off in our seets, and then got some breakfast. Everything was provided by Dunkin’ Donuts, so the donuts and coffee was great. Then we went back to our seats and ate while the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show people came in. This was awesome for me because I listen to them almost every morning on a local station, Q94, but I had no idea what they actually looked like! Greg T., who Elvis Duran usually refers to as frat boy or round head, went around asking for peoples’ questions to ask the cast during the interview. Finally, the Glee cast came in.

Glee Cast at Elvis Duran

The cast members who were present were Cory Monteith (“Finn Hudson”), Kevin McHale (“Artie Abrams”), Jenna Ushkowitz (“Tina Cohen-Chang”), Naya Rivera (“Santana Lopez”), Amber Riley (“Mercedes Jones”) and Mark Salling (“Noah ‘Puck’ Puckerman”). After some introduction, they began answering questions. Some of the questions were from the audience (approximately 100 people), in which case Greg T. would go to the person who had a question and let them ask it into the mic. Other times, they would take callers with questions, which Elvis was able to do on stage using his iPad. One of the funniest times was when a caller was trying to ask the cast about their ages in relationship of the ages of their characters, but their cellphone signal was so bad that only every other syllable was audible. Obviously, the Glee cast had no idea what they were trying to say. Enjoy this captioned image of Jenna, Cory & Amber’s confused faces:
