The Fox phenom is in negotiations with Ricky Martin to guest star early next year, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

I’m told Martin’s scalding instructor will headline two big musical numbers in the episode, which is slated to air in late January.

Glee Star Lauren Potter Appointed to Obama Committee

Posted by Laura on Nov-14-2011 under Cast & Crew, Glee Guest Stars, News, Random

Lauren Potter, better known to all us Gleeks as Sue’s hilarious and lovable right hand woman Becky Jackson on Glee, has received an even more high-profile role than Cheerio co-captain (but shhh, don’t tell Sue!).

According to CNN.com, Lauren has been appointed by President Obama as a member of The President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

In a press release statement, President Obama said:

“I am grateful that these talented and dedicated individuals have agreed to take on these important roles and devote their talents to serving the American people. I look forward to working with them in the coming months and years.”

The committee provides advice to the president and secretary of Health and Human services about intellectual disabilities, including workplace integration issues, home ownership and education.

As reported on CNN.com:

Potter, who plays Becky Jackson on “Glee,” said in a statement: “It is important to me that people with intellectual disabilities are represented and treated fairly and are given the same opportunities as every other American.”

“Our challenges are the same as many others, we want to be safe in school—free from bullying and teasing, we hope to be welcomed at parks, recreation centers and other community activities, we worry about jobs and where we will live but mostly we want to be treated how you want to be treated – with respect!”

Potter who has Down syndrome, has routinely spoken about her troubles growing up as a special needs child.

“Like so many other kids with special needs, I have been bullied,” Potter told People magazine earlier this year. “Kids in elementary school made me eat sand, and those same boys would walk behind me, teasing me. Finally I had enough, and I told them to ‘grow up.’ ”

She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Riverside, California, and she is currently a student at Irvine Valley College.

Potter has been involved in several advocacy projects, including serving on an anti-bullying campaign with Abilitypath.org, working with the Special Olympics, Down Syndrome Association and the American Association of People with Disabilities.

“I never thought I could be an actress, but I am. I never thought I would be a presidential appointee and I am!” Potter said in a statement. “The possibilities are endless for anyone and that is what I hope to help bring to this committee – a real life example that with a supportive community and an encouraging country we all can live the American dream!”

A huge congratulations to Lauren on behalf of everyone here at GleeFan.com!

GleeFan Exclusive: Curt Mega talks about touring, his inspirations, Darren Criss & more!

Posted by Mary on Nov-14-2011 under Cast & Crew, Glee Guest Stars, GleeFan.com Exclusives, Interviews

Photo Credit: TwitterCurt Mega, also known as Warbler Nick, has answered your questions in his exclusive Q&A with GleeFan.com! He discusses his time traveling on tour over the summer, working with Darren Criss, and his experience on Tumblr!
———

Q: “What was the most exciting/memorable thing about the Glee tour this summer?” – Nicole K. (25, Baldwin, WI)

A: Having the opportunity to meet so many amazing people one on one and not being separated by a television screen or social media sight. Having direct communication with lovers of the show and getting to hear their stories and be inspired by their joy.

Q: “If you could sing a duet with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and what would you sing?” – Naomi (14, Wisconsin)

A: For a male artist I would say Chris Martin/Coldplay singing “The Scientist” and  for female, Lea Michele…and I would want to sing “As Long as You’re Mine” from Wicked! Dream big, right??

Q: “We really don’t know much about your character Nick from Glee. What can you tell us about him? What do you think his story is?” – Stephanie B. (Ames, IA)

A: As an actor, your job is to fill in your backstory with the richest of colors and the fullest life you can. Nick is very specific to me: I think he is somewhat naive, earnest, playful, energetic and passionate. I think he must be very driven to be willing to audition for a solo time and again (I suppose “4” was the magic number!) and I think he is grateful for his best friends/brothers he has in the Warblers.

Q: “What is the most important piece of advice that has ever been given to you?” – Roger C. (19, Chicago, IL)

A: To be a person of integrity in all things.

Q: “What are your thoughts on Tubmlr and how’s your Tumblr experience so far?” – Lavina

A: I am fascinated by Tumblr and the Tumblr community. They are passionate, outspoken, and opinionated and I love that. I recently started one and love being able to write beyond the 140 character limit of twitter.

Q: “Are you accustomed to your rising fame and your adoring fans?” – Leyla L. (14, Paris, France)

A: I don’t look at it like fame (most people still don’t know who I am, lol) but I look at it as an opportunity to connect and share my heart and journey with people like me. As an artist, it’s a chance to share my work with more people and to be able to be inspired by the thoughts that they share with me. I am so grateful for the amazing people who have been so very supportive, I still can’t believe it.

Q: “Most embarrassing song on your playlist?” – Roni K. (21, Israel)

A: “Teach Me How To Dougie” (and I know all the lyrics). But hey, it was for hip hop class! Don’t judge.

Q: “What has been your favorite song that you’ve sung with the Warblers?” – Georgia P. (15. Spain)

A: I’m going to have to say “Uptown Girl”!

Q: “Tell us about your experience singing “Uptown Girl” and making your solo debut on Glee?” – Monica P. (17, Indonesia)

A: It was truly a dream becoming reality. First off, Billy Joel is one of my all time favorite artists and one of the all time greats. There was a very specific target of emulating his classic style that was, in and of itself, an homage to Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons, and as a lover of 60’s Motown, I was enthralled by the experience while recording and shooting. It was pure joy. I am so grateful to Ryan Murphy and the entire Glee team for that opportunity. Words cannot express how grateful I am.

Q: “Tell us about The Candle Project you just started.” – Emily

A: It came from question I kept asking myself: how can I be a light in people’s lives? How can I take action against the tragedy of bullying and hate? What does that action look like? I wanted to form a community where we could come together and share our experiences and stories and encourage one another.

Q: “Which movies, music and books have inspired you the most, both creatively and personally?” – Olivia (19, Singapore)

A: I am drawn to film and literature where ordinary people are faced with extraordinary circumstances and rise to greatness because of their passion and heart: my favorite movies would have to be Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List. Favorite books would be the Chronicles of Narnia series. The defining characteristic I am drawn to in each of those is that there are “small” and ordinary people rising to the occasion and becoming heroes because of their love for others and their passion for justice.

Q: “Kurt and Blaine always go to The Lima Bean for coffee on Glee. What is your coffee order and where is your favorite place to get coffee?” – Genica R. (California)

A: I am a big fan of bold coffee with almond milk or an Americano. My favorite places are hole in the wall coffee shops where you can go and sit and read and write for hours and feel like you are at home.

Q: “How is working with Darren Criss? Any funny moments that you can talk about?” – Scott O. (20, Normal, IL)

A: Darren is amazing. One of the most grounded, humble and talented people I know. Watching his transition to stardom has been amazing because he hasn’t changed one bit: he is truly a caring and passionate person and I have learned so much from him. Funny story I can share: we were working out at the gym and as we were leaving, the lady at the front desk said to him, “You know I want to freak out when I see you, right? But I won’t.” He said, “Good! I’m glad you don’t! It’s way cooler talking to you this way!” I thought it was hilarious but also a testament to his humility.

Q: “Would you ever consider making a solo album?” – Sara H. (Portland, ME)

A: I have always considered myself an actor first so I’ve never been focused on releasing a solo album. I would not rule it out however. I love singing and telling stories through song. I think it would have to be the right material coming from an honest place in the right time and not forced just for the sake of making an album.

Q: “You are very inspirational. If you could pick one phrase or quote to live by, what would it be?” – Briyelle N.

A: Love the journey more than the prospect of success.

GleeFan Exclusive: Samuel Larsen talks about his Glee Project win, upcoming character, famous hair & more!

Posted by Mary on Nov-10-2011 under Cast & Crew, Glee Guest Stars, GleeFan.com Exclusives, News

Samuel Larsen, the winner of The Glee Project, was kind enough to sit down and answer some questions for GleeFan.com! He talks about winning The Glee Project, being on Glee, recording his first song, and more! Enjoy!
———

Q: Congratulations on being one of the winners of The Glee Project! How was it to first win and then realize that Damian, Alex, and Lindsay also won?

A: Thank you! When they told me I won, I was so shocked. When they told Damian that he won, it felt like I had won twice. He is like my brother and I told him backstage before we went on to do our last song that if I don’t get this, I want you to get this. He is a really, really cool kid and I know more than anything, above talent or anything, I know how humble he is so I knew he could handle it.

Q: Did you watch Damian premiere on Tuesday?

A: Yeah, we were all at Robert’s house. He killed it. He truly did amazing.

Q: Have you gotten a chance to meet the whole Glee cast?

A: Almost. I have met most of them. I’m supposed to go in sometime this week to the set to meet everyone and get acquainted.

Q: You sing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” with Cory and Mark on the upcoming Christmas album. How was recording that?

A: It was great and it was my first time recording for Glee. We went and recorded at Challace in Hollywood which was really, really cool. It’s crazy because I knew it was a three way song between me, Mark, and Cory, but I didn’t know which parts were mine. They just sent me the song and when I came into the studio, they said alright you’re singing this part and you have this harmony. It was hard and it is a different singing style than I am used to, having to be more perfect, dead on, and not be so sloppy as I am when I sing my own music. I am very influenced by singers that singer very sloppy, I think it sounds great, but it’s not very Glee. So, it was a little difficult, but it went great.

Q: It is rumored that your character will be a relative of Puck. Can you confirm or deny that rumor?

A: I can’t confirm it since I am not 100% sure. I think they’re still trying to work out how they are going to make that happen, but maybe.

Q: What’s it like to go from normal to big fame?

A: It is awesome. I get recognized now!

Q: What about the hair; is it staying for the show?

A: Yeah! My dreads will be staying.

Q: If you could sing one song on Glee, what would it be and why?

A: Oh man, just one!? I would want to sing ‘Awake My Soul’ by Mumford and Sons. They’re one of my all time favorite artists.

Q: If you could describe The Glee Project in one word, what would it be?

A: Stressful. Very, very stressful.

Q: You are a talented musican. Do you think that Glee will incorporate you playing instruments into the show like they do with Cory and the drums?

A: Yeah, I really hope they do. In fact, what I do more than anything is play drums. I think I am better at drumming than I am at singing, even though I like singing more. I would love for us to do a song where we can play drums together. I was actually thinking of “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who because there is a little drum battle in the middle. I really hope they do something.

Q: What is one tip that you would give the contestants of The Glee Project who are auditioning this week?

A: Just be yourself. That is the best advice.

As we all know, the long awaited return of Chord Overstreet’s character, Sam Evans, is not too far away, and it looks like Sam won’t be arriving alone. Smallville actor, John Schneider has been cast in the role of Sam’s father.

Schneider will make his Glee debut in episode eight and so far, has only signed on for one episode.

Now the question remains, who do you think should play Sam’s mom?

Karofsky Transfers Schools

Posted by Mary on Nov-04-2011 under Cast & Crew, Glee Episode Spoilers, Glee Guest Stars, News

Photo Source: TwitterKarofsky fans, you better sit down for this one. Sitting down? Okay, good. It looks like Karofsky’s prom-gone-wrong really upset him. So much so that he has transferred schools! Michael Ausiello wrote an article about this week’s episode, “The First Time”, and included this tidbit of information on Max Adler‘s return to Glee:

When Sebastian invites Kurt and Blaine out to local gay haunt Scandal, Kurt runs into his old nemesis at the bar. Apparently, transferring to a new school has done wonders for the bully’s disposition. He’s mellowed out considerably and coming to grips with his sexuality. It’s my favorite scene of the episode and should fire up those Kurt-Karofsky ‘shippers out there.

We’re glad that Kurofsky is finally beginning to accept himself, but he will be missed at McKinely. What are your thoughts? Do you still want Dave at WMHS?

“Pot O’ Gold” Sneak Peek Video!

We are so close! After surviving three grueling weeks without our beloved show, only a few more days seperate us from being reunited with our favorite TV show, and it feels so good! To hold us over, Fox posted a new video introducing us to Rory Flanagan, the foreign exchange student played by The Glee Project winner Damian McGinty.

In the video, Damian discusses his time on The Glee Project, singing in front of the cast for the first time, and working on the show, which he says is “a dream.”

We already know that Rory is a foreign exchange student living with Brittany and that causes some tension between the Irishman and Santana. It’s safe to say that we can get ready for some hilarious one-liners from the queen of mean.

We are so excited for Tuesday! Are you excited for Damian’s arrival?

Rory Gets Roughed Up in Episode 4

Seems like Rory’s getting into some trouble upon his entry into McKinley! Damien McGinty’s character will not be welcomed to the halls of McKinley, according to a new photo released by Entertainment Weekly.

The photo shows McGinty’s character being shoved into a locker by the hockey players and judging by his face, he is certainly scared.

In August, McGinty spoke of his character saying that he will play a foreign exchange student that Brittany mistakes as a leprechaun.

What do you think about Rory?  Are you excited for his arc on Glee?

Glee Gives Back with The Biggest Show

Young Storytellers FoundationGlee has teamed up with The Young Storytellers Foundation to continue spreading its message of arts education. Many of the core cast members including Cory Monteith, Kevin McHale, and Harry Shum Jr. will all participate in YSF’s annual event “The Biggest Show.”

YSF is a program that promotes the growth of free expression and literacy in unprivileged schools throughout the Los Angeles area. Since its establishment in 1997, professionals in the entertainment industry have all come together to mentor students in the arts through the act of screenwriting. Many of these mentors, including Glee‘s very own Brad Falchuk who happens to be a member of YSF’s board of directors, are either producers, screenwriters, or actors.

During this year’s “The Biggest Show,” members from the cast of Glee will perform screenplays written by students in the program. The event enables students the opportunity to see their hard work come to life.

Cory Monteith and Harry Shum Jr. revealed through their respective Twitter accounts that they were excited for the event, both tweeting:

Can’t wait to act in plays by 5th graders from @BFalchuk ‘s charity at @youngstory ‘s Biggest Show on 10/15! For tix: http://tinyurl.com/3lrvmsn

Other Glee cast members scheduled to perform are: Dot Marie Jones, Jayma Mays, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Naya Rivera. Other notable attendees are: Raven Symone (That’s So Raven), Kay Panabaker (Fame), Nicholas Braun (Prom), Trevor Donovan (90210), and Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid)

“The Biggest Show” will be held on October 15, 2011 at 6:00pm in Santa Monica, California. Individual tickets can be bought at EventBrite.com
