Blaine Anderson: The Star of Season 4?

Posted by Bonnie on Sep-27-2011 under Cast & Crew, Darren Criss, News

Darren Criss as Blaine AndersonAs it was confirmed tonight in episode 3×03 “I Am Unicorn, Blaine Anderson played by Darren Criss, is indeed a junior. In fact, he’s worried that he won’t nab a role in McKinley High musical, because he thinks they should go to the seniors.

As we already know from “The Purple Piano Project”, Kurt is a senior, and now he’s fighting Blaine for the lead role in West Side Story. So what does that mean for Klaine?

Likely, it means lots of tension in the near future. But how about in the long-term? It might mean we will see Kurt Hummel visiting Blaine Anderson at McKinley during Season 4!

It sure stirred up a lot of controversy this week, as many Gleeks thought Blaine should be a senior. It was indeed mentioned in Season 2 that Blaine was a “Junior Member” of the Warblers.

Brad Falchuk quickly came to defend the contradictory writing when he tweeted this:

Never said what grade Blaine was in.”Junior Warbler” just meant he was an underclassman. All relationships solid. Next two ep. really great.

Like it or not, Gleeks, Blaine is here to stay! So, what do you think? Will Darren Criss be the Finn Hudson of Season 4?

  1. Loved the Unicorn episode. I’m a HUGE Kurt and Blaine fan, and am quite upset at the upcoming tension over the lead role in West Side Story. But it’s very realistic, given the excellent plotting by Ian, Ryan, and Brad, and given the 2 characters involved. Of course Kurt would want the part of Tony, and of course, however talented and wonderful Kurt is, he’s not right for that part. Of course Blaine would hold off on auditioning for the lead role, for Kurt’s sake, but of course he should get that part, of Tony, since he’s perfect for it.
I am so crazy about the Kurt and Blaine couple that I just hope Kurt is mature enough to handle it, and that they come out of it better people, and still in love.
    Thank you for everything, Glee!

  2. I think the lead role ‘fight’ will bring some really great drama to the show and the Klaine relationship, however, VERY disappointed in the writers for suddenly turning around and making Blaine younger. I -as well as tons of other fans -just can’t buy Blaine being younger. He looks way older than Kurt, and he’s always been played as more mature and older, while Kurt was portrayed as the younger and more insecure of them. It’s confusing and irritating and it’s sad that such a small thing could help ruin what has been one of my absolute favourite tv shows. I don’t buy it, and if I don’t buy it, I don’t feel it, and if I don’t feel it I loose interest in the character and ultimately maybe even in the show. Shame on you, writers. You’ve proven yourselves before to be quite superb, so you could have come up with some other way to keep your beloved cash cow on for another season. Because this? This is pathetic.

  3. Oh god no, I’m already not watching season 3 because Blaine is taking over and I can’t stand him. Yes Darren Criss is cool but Blaine is bland, annoying and kind of an ass at times. I don’t understand why someone so bland should have the lead role, it’s just kissing up to Darren Criss and his fans. Mostly I feel sorry for Chris Colfer, Kurt’s arc was already taken over by Blaine the second he transferred and now it seems Blaine is just replacing him. Ryan Murphy WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!

    Send Blaine back to Dalton
    Make him a senior
Stop giving him so much screen time
    and bring back sassy Kurt
