Glee Taking Cheap Shots at Conservatives?

Posted by Tinkers on Apr-27-2010 under Videos

Fox News reported the other day on comments made during Hello and The Power of Madonna. They claim the show is taking shots at the right wing, with their jabs at Sarah Palin and Anne Coulter.

Does Glee have a political agenda? Of course. Everyone has a political agenda. Does it really matter that much? Well, it does to Bill O’Reilly:

What do you think? Are you suddenly sprouting liberal antennas because of one silly comment about Anne Coulter? Does politics bore you as much as it bores me? Take it away!

Glee Concert Tour details released!

Posted by Tinkers on Apr-26-2010 under Events

GleeLive

Been itching for details on the tour?! Thanks to the ever-faithful Entertainment Weekly, wait no longer!

The tour will feature 15 to 18 musical numbers, all connected by a plot line involving New Directions’ rivalry with the cut-throat glee clubbers, Vocal Adrenaline. Ryan Murphy tells EW, “We made a decision to do our biggest hits because that’s what fans want to see. It’s a concert tour but it also has a story in it.”

So, what about these musical numbers? Apparently, in addition to the star’s costume designer, Glee has also managed to nab Lady Gaga’s SET designer for the concert tour! “It’s a huge stage. We’ve got multimedia. It’s really big.” Says Murphy. “Fox believes in it so much that they’ve hired the best people. It’s not about going out and selling out a lot of dates and making a lot of money. In fact, we won’t make any money with this first tour because we’ve put so much money into the set design. It’s really just a great thank you to our fans.”

No, Ryan Murphy, thank YOU! :)

Dance Spirit Magazine: Heather Morris’ Road to Fame

Posted by Tinkers on Apr-25-2010 under Heather Morris, Interviews

SGG-088433We all know and love her as the hilariously deadpan Cheerio, Brittany. Check out what Heather Morris had to say to Dance Spirit Magazine about her road to becoming a professional dancer from her humble roots in Arizona!

Once you spot Heather Morris on the hit TV show “Glee,” you’ll sit on the edge of your couch anxiously awaiting her every scene. As the unintentionally hilarious airhead Brittany, Heather delivers priceless one-liners with deadpan seriousness.

“Brittany can figure certain things out, like cheerleading and performing, because those are her passions,” says Heather. “But she doesn’t pay attention to anything else!”

Heather nails this obtuse character so perfectly that it’s hard to believe she’s a dancer first and an actress second. “Heather has incredible comedic timing,” says “Glee” choreographer Zach Woodlee. Plus, she has the kind of charisma that catches the audience’s attention. As a result, the 23-year-old is now finding out what it means to be famous.

Fan’s Account from Backstage at the Finale Taping!

The blog Max the Boy Lion has posted an exclusive account from a fan who apparently was able to score backstage passes to the season finale taping! Due to a nondisclosure agreement, he is unnamed. We shall call him, “Lucky Mystery Fan.” Read his account below!

I met Chris Colfer last night. He was so freaking sweet. I met all of the cast, and let me tell you, Lea Michele is a bitch. She’s kind of a diva, and not in the, “Oh, girl, she’s fierce” kind of way. Jonathan Groff is adorable, though! One thing that Lea and Jonathan said that was amazing was that he hopes Lea plays Elphaba in Wicked, and she was like, “He wanted to make that happen!” She just shrugged her shoulders. Jane Lynch is so cute! You’d love her!!! She’s so witty. It was great. OMG, and [Will] Schuester [Matthew Morrison] is beautiful. Mercedes [Amber Riley] is so sweet, and very humble. Seriously, everyone was so great. Lea Michele was just kind of iffy. She just wasn’t as personable as the rest of the cast. Idk, maybe she was just having a bad day.

We were all on a balcony of this theatre, and when [the cast] would have breaks, they’d come up and answer fan questions. I was right in front, so I got to shake almost everyone’s hand and say a few words.

Britney Spears Tribute Episode?!

Posted by Tinkers on Apr-23-2010 under News, Pictures

FINALLYI was as shocked, awed, and puzzled as you were by the trending topic on Twitter that appeared a few days ago: #BritneySpearsGLEE. Reportedly, Britney Spears’ manager Adam Leber tweeted in an attempt to rouse excitement over a Glee all-Britney episode. “Do you guys want to see a Britney Spears episode of GLEE?” he tweeted to the world. “Thoughts?”

Ryan Murphy is considering the possibility. He told EW:

“I’m interested in the Britney Spears idea. I’ve always loved her. I’m entertaining it. I think young kids would like that.” Murphy also says that he’s contemplating doing similar hour tributes to Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, and, even, Courtney Love! “I actually ran into Courtney Love the other day and talked to her,” says Murphy. “She’s interested. I would love to have the kids do a Courtney Love episode one day.”

After the phenomenal success of last week’s glorified Madonna episode, it looks like the writers are looking for more stars to channel! What do you think? Overkill? Or potential hilarity?! Post away!

Shelly’s Report of the “Journey” Season Finale Taping

Glee Regionals ProgramShelly recently got to go to the taping for the season finale, titled “Journey” – a reference to the show’s first hit single “Don’t Stop Believin’”. At the end of her report, there are scans of the programs that were given to everyone in the audience, so check that out before reading Shelly‘s highlights from the cast Q&A’s! Enjoy!

On Wednesday, April 21st, I went to the taping of “Journey,” the Season 1 finale of Glee! I’ve gotten a lot of questions about this, so just to clarify again, the taping was only for the performances at Regionals. As much as I wish I did, I have no idea what happens in the episode beyond that. However, there are some slight spoilers in this, so if you don’t want to know anything that happens at Regionals, stop reading! For those of you who do want to know, read on, and make sure you go all the way to the end for the Q&As with the cast.

The filming took place at Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, which seats about 1400 people and is where the Glee PaleyFest screening and panel were last month. I arrived at the theatre at 9 am and was first in line, surprisingly. The next group didn’t show up until around 11, but going early was worth it because I got to see a lot of set pieces and props outside, as well the members of Vocal Adrenaline hanging around the theatre. And while I was waiting, Jonathan Groff hopped out of a van parked right in front of me! He was wearing – wait for it… a hot pink shirt with black suspenders and slacks, just like all of the other VA guys. Surprise surprise.

At around 2 pm, they started letting us in and seated all of the “invited audience” in the balcony. I managed to snag a program (scans at the end), and since I was first in line, I got to sit in the front row, center! (So look for an Asian girl in plaid when the episode airs. :P) Once we were in, we got to watch VA perform their number for Regionals. All six minutes of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. Their performance was full of crazy jumps, flips, throws, spins, etc. Believe me when I say that it was EPIC. As much as I love New Directions (more on their performance later), I have to say that they didn’t compare to Vocal Adrenaline. They filmed the audience waving glow sticks, rocking out, swaying, and giving a standing ovation. While they were filming, Jane Lynch was watching from the audience, and Ryan Murphy was directing from the side of the theatre. They announced that the four judges for Regionals would be Josh Groban, Olivia Newton-John, Sue Sylvester(!), and Rod Remington (played by Bill Jones), so that explains why Jane was there.

Soon after they finished filming VA, they announced that New Directions would be performing for us. They came out in black and gold outfits – simple, but sharp. After some more waiting (they had to set up the lighting and rehearse a bit), they were finally ready to start filming. They first did several takes of the audience reacting to the announcement of the winner of Regionals. This was all done very ambiguously so that we wouldn’t know who the winner actually was, which I definitely appreciated because I for one don’t want to be spoiled just yet. They did a couple of neutral shots, and then a “winning” shot, where the cast totally goofed off – it was hilarious. Kevin jumped out of his wheel chair and started running around, Cory was rolling on the ground out of joy, etc.

Three Dancers Injured During Finale Taping

“I don’t enjoy watching teenagers cry unless it’s from physical exhaustion.” It seems as though there’s plenty of THAT to go around on the finale set of Glee, which taped on Wednesday. Reportedly, three dancers were injured by colliding with a camera during one of the dance numbers. Check out the full report below from Kristin Dos Santos, who was lucky enough to attend.

LOVE THEM! They suffer for us. :)

GleeFan Exclusive Q&A with Lauren Potter

Posted by Rob on Apr-20-2010 under GleeFan.com Exclusives, Interviews

Lauren Potter with Jane LynchWe recently were lucky enough to have Lauren Potter, who plays the role of Becky Jackson on Glee, answer a few of our questions. You probably remember Becky from the episode “Wheels” when she auditioned for the Cheerios squad, and actually made it! The episode as a whole was definitely a fan favorite, so we’re happy to see Becky’s return to Glee for the next 2 episodes!

I’m sure you’ve been asked this a million times, but could you talk a little bit about how you got cast as Becky?
I got a call from Gail Williamson at Hearts and Halos (the Down Syndrome Association of LA talent agency) that Glee was looking for a girl to play “Becky Jackson”. I went for an audition, got a call back and then I got a call saying that I got the part!

How did you feel when you got the good news?
I was soooo excited! I was jumping up and down and laughing and crying at the same time.

Had you done any acting before Glee?
I was in a movie called “Mr. Blue Sky”. It was written by Tom Lee, and the director was Sarah Gurfield. I played the part of young Andra Little. It is a really good movie about a girl with Down syndrome who falls in love with a “typical” boy.

Do you get to watch filming for any of the other scenes while you’re on set or do you just do your part? How about the dance numbers?
Oh yes, I get to watch a lot of other scenes. Wait until you see the moves in “The Power of Madonna”, it’s amazing! I love to dance, so I love the dance numbers.

What was it like to meet Jane Lynch? Her character isn’t exactly the kindest to yours on the show…
She is so great! I loved meeting her and working with her. She is so nice and such a cool person. She also has the same kind of dog as I do, a Wheaton terrier!

Have you gotten to meet all the cast? What is it like working with them?
All the cast is so nice and really fun to work with. It’s fun to hang out with them on the set. It feels like a big family when we are working together.

Do you know if Robin Trocki, who plays Sue’s sister Jean, will also be returning?
Robin is returning on May 4th for another episode. [Note: This would be the episode “Bad Reputation.”]

What do you think of Glee’s usage of characters with Down Syndrome?
I think it is great. A bunch of people have written to me to tell me how happy they are that I am on the show. I want them to see me as I really am, just a regular girl. The fans have been so great to me.

Do you think that Becky will return for any more episodes after “Home”?
I sure hope so! I want to be on a lot more! I love the show and all the cast and crew!

Lauren, thank you so much for answering our questions! Remember Gleeks, look for Lauren in tonight’s episode, “The Power of Madonna”, and next week’s episode, “Home.”
