Glee to Perform Original Music!

Posted by Rob on Dec-30-2009 under Glee Episode Spoilers, Interviews, News, Ryan Murphy

Ryan MurphyIt appears the Glee will be getting a whole episode in the back nine, showcasing some original music! Even though the show has been doing an amazing job with their covers, it’ll be fun to see what original songs they’ll be performing in the spring. Here’s what Ryan Murphy had to say to Billboard.com:

“I’ve had a lot of calls from songwriters, to the point where it’s kind of embarrassing and ridiculous,” he says. “So we’re writing an episode called ‘Original Song’ where the teacher asks the kids to write their own piece of music. Diane Warren is going to do two big ballads, and if it works, we’ll see what happens . . . but we won’t do it all the time.”

Ryan TedderAlso, Ryan Tedder, who’s in one of my personal favorite bands, OneRepublic, co-wrote the song “Halo” with Beyoncé. When Idolator.com asked him if he’d seen the mashup between “Halo” and “Walking on Sunshine” on Glee, he told Idolator.com:

“I did! Glee is actually my new addiction. I download every episode. They actually just approached me. Adam Anders, the guy who does all the music, approached me about two weeks ago to do original music for the next season. So I’m gonna be doing at least one song for the next season that’s original.”

I’m excited for some original tunes, aren’t you? :)

“Glee” Vol. 1: Road to Sectionals – My Personal Review!

Posted by Rob on Dec-24-2009 under Behind The Scenes, Cast & Crew, GleeFan.com Exclusives, News, Pictures

Christmas came a little early for me when I received my advanced review copy of Glee, Vol. One: Road to Sectionals yesterday. If you want to see all of the DVD set’s general info (such as episode listings), then you should visit my recent post: “Glee” Season 1, Vol. 1: Road to Sectionals – Dec. 29th!

Glee DVD MenusSome of the first things that I noticed when I played the DVD were all the cool menus! Everything is organized quite nicely, and each menu screen has a different background featuring the different Glee characters. It plays the a cappella music that is used for background music and scene transitions in the show. I really like it. :)

From the title menu, you can choose to automatically play all the episodes, you can select a specific episode (which is handy since it features a nice episode summary), you can go to the ‘set up’ and adjust the subtitles (English, Spanish, French or Portuguese) and lastly, you can watch the bonus features!

Principal Figgins - Welcome to McKinley! Now I’ll get into the bonus features, aka ‘Extras’. The first is called Welcome to McKinley! and it features the hilarious Principal Figgins. With the help of McKinley’s AV club, Figgins has created a welcome video for 8th graders that are about to start school at McKinley High. Iqbal Theba, the actor who plays Figgins, has perfect comedic timing and I promise that the entire video (which is a little over 5 mins long) will crack you up.

Glee Music VideoNext is a Glee Music Video. It features the Glee cast’s version of Somebody to Love and is edited together very well. It uses a lot of promo footage that was shot when the show was new (bits of which might look familiar from early Glee promos) and adds in some scenes from the first few episodes. Then they creatively edit in some of the song lyrics and the result is a video that perfectly capture’s the feeling of Glee‘s early days. I LOVE it. :)

Glee Flash Mob in Italy

Posted by Rob on Dec-23-2009 under Events, Videos

You have to watch this awesome flash mob that was coordinated by Fox Italy. The ‘flash mobbers’ suddenly burst into dance that was choreographed to a montage of Glee songs at the Galleria Alberto Sordi mall in Rome, Italy. So amazing! :D

This is actually part of Fox’s promotion for Italy’s Glee premiere on Christmas day, December 25th. If you want to see some of the videos that were taken by the many mall-goers with camcorders, go here.

Jenna Ushkowitz on the Today Show

Posted by Rob on Dec-23-2009 under Jenna Ushkowitz, Videos

Jenna Ushkowitz was on the Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda to talk about Sanrio’s donation of $100,000 worth of Hello Kitty toys to Today’s Toy Drive 2009. It’s a pretty short video, but Jenna is so cute with her little Hello Kitty doll. Enjoy! :)

Awkward ELLE Interview with Matthew Morrison

Posted by Rob on Dec-23-2009 under Interviews, Matthew Morrison

Matthew MorrisonWell if this doesn’t make you feel awkward, then I don’t know what will. Here’s an excerpt from an interview that ELLE Magazine did with Matthew Morrison. I’m not quite sure what was running through the interviewer’s mind for his first few questions/comments…

ELLE: So, Matt, you’re a musical theater star who’s been interviewed by The Advocate and much discussed on Manhunt.com, and you star in Glee, a program that’s referred to as “the gayest show on TV.” You must feel particularly proud being the first gay man to grace this page.

MATTHEW MORRISON: I’m not gay.

ELLE: I had indeed read in various places that you’re straight, but in light of the circumstantial evidence, I wasn’t sure.

MM: I grew up singing and dancing, so people have been calling me gay since fifth grade. I’ve heard everything you could possibly hear about it. But I do love gay people, so I’m not going to act like I was insulted or angry about it.

ELLE: But do you ever do anything to suppress your gayest traits? Like, on a club dance floor, will you keep a lid on your best moves in order not to look too much like Tommy Tune out there?

MM: Oh, yeah. I’ll do what I refer to as “the shoulder dance,” just, you know, move my shoulders and do a little head bobbing.

Two Full Hours of ‘Glee’, This Wednesday

Posted by Rob on Dec-22-2009 under Cast & Crew, News, Videos

Update: I hope you guys enjoyed “Preggers” & “The Rhodes Not Taken”! This week’s are “Vitamin D” & “Throwdown”.

In honor of the release of “Glee” Season 1, Vol. 1: Road to Sectionals, it seems like the Glee cast will be hosting 2 full hours of Glee on Fox, this Wednesday, December 23rd at 8/7c pm… kinda. Actually, it appears that the 2 hour event will be ‘hosted’ by the actual Glee characters. I haven’t heard much about this so far and strangely, Fox isn’t doing their typically heavy promoting of it. I do know that this week’s two episodes are “Preggers” & “The Rhodes Not Taken”, and next week’s two episodes are “Vitamin D” & “Throwdown”. If you want more info, check out these two commercials that jaymcb recorded and uploaded to YouTube.

Chris Colfer Photo Shoot with h Magazine

Posted by Rob on Dec-22-2009 under Chris Colfer, Pictures

Chris ColferChris Colfer recently did a photo shoot and short interview with h Magazine. The article focuses on Chris Colfer’s (as well as Kurt Hummel’s) sense of fashion. Make sure you check out all the images from their awesome photoshoot. Here’s an excerpt from the article:

Chris Colfer doesn’t want to disappoint his fans but unlike the lovable and fashionably adventurous character Kurt he plays on Fox’s hit show Glee, he won’t be caught parading around town in a translucent Dolce and Gabbana raincoat. It’s way more likely you’ll spot him shopping at the Beverly Center, enjoying some of his favorite stores. “I don’t have a lot of preference when it comes to designers but I love Banana Republic, Express, and Ben Sherman.” Chris insists that Kurt’s wardrobe definitely helps him get into the role. “Kurt’s clothes are 25 to 30 percent of his character. I’m much more of a T-shirt and jeans kind of guy but I try to keep my fashion a notch above casual…”
