Even More Glee Spoilers!

Posted by Rob on Jul-17-2009 under Glee Episode Spoilers

So here are a couple of Glee spoilers! The first is from EW’s Ask Ausiello and the second from TVGuide.com. Also, I left off the last sentence of the second spoiler because it was so spoilery that even I couldn’t post here in good conscience. In order to see it, make sure that you click “Read the rest…”

Question: Will Glee introduce Lea’s mom? Wouldn’t it be cool if it turned out to be Idina Menzel? Just a thought. –Wendy
Ausiello:
I like the way your mind works. Unfortunately, there are no immediate plans to bring on Lea’s mom. We don’t even meet her dads in the first 13 episodes.

I can’t wait for Glee to start again! Any scoop? — Julianne
MICKEY: Question for you, Julianne. Are you as sick of the “Single Ladies” choreography as jokey Internet meme (see: hereherehere and here) as I am? That’s too bad for both of us, because it’s the inspiration for an entire episode in which Kurt joins the football team. (more…)

Glee Relationship Spoilers!

Posted by Rob on Jul-15-2009 under Glee Episode Spoilers

Watch with Kristin has revealed a few spoilers about the relationships between the Glee club members that we’ll all be watching this fall.

Sarah in Pasadena, Calif.: Glee scoop please. Preferably on Finn and Rachel!
Lea Michele
really hopes Rachel and Finn (Cory Monteith) get together when Glee returns this fall: “I’m keeping my fingers crossed!” she tells us. As for Finn’s current girlfriend, Quinn, she’ll be sticking around for a while. Dianna Agron says, “There’s more than one love triangle. There are many, many love triangles, and they’re always changing.”

Gabriela: In the next episodes of Glee, is there any hope or hint for us Puck-Quinn fans?

If you want to see the head Cheerio hook up with Mohawk guy, there is most definitely hope and a hint in the upcoming episodes of Glee, but we can’t tell you more than that or Glee creator Ryan Murphywould kill us. OK, we’ll give you a hint. At least two of the people pictured [here] have a secret, and at least three are big fat traitors.

PopWatch Blog Reviews Glee

Posted by Rob on Jul-14-2009 under Glee Episode Previews, Glee Episode Spoilers

Yet another review from someone who saw the advance screening of episodes 2 & 3. The official post can be found on the PopWatch Blog on EW.com, here.

Lea & CoryIt’s a (not so) little known fact that I love myself some Glee. I even re-watched the pilot with my family during a recent vacation trip to the beach; the Stacks enjoy a good musical number in between our poor attempts at tanning.

So I was beyond thrilled last week when Fox screened the next TWO(!) Gleeepisodes last week at their headquarters in New York. Here’s a little preview of what you all can expect in September when the show (finally) begins airing (SPOILER ALERT). The first ep back is called “Showmance,” and mainly focuses on the relationship between Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) — both pictured. But the highlight is a raunchy glee club performance of “Push It” during a school assembly; as Sandy Ryerson (Stephen Tobolowsky) said in the pilot, “It’s genius!”

Speaking of Sandy, he pops back up in the next episode, “Preggers.” The star of this episode though is Kurt (Chris Colfer) who does a hilarious version of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” He also has a wonderfully touching scene near the end of the episode with his ultra-butch father, played by Mike O’Malley. Oh, and there’s a major pregnancy announcement for one of the characters and it will probably come as a surprise.

All in all, they were really really fun episodes. The quality seen in the pilot definitely does not waver. If anything, the show seems to be finding its footing and tone.

So, PopWatchers, does this make you even more excited for Glee? Have you been re-watching the pilot?

Korbi TV Answers Glee Fan Questions

Posted by Rob on Jul-14-2009 under Glee Episode Spoilers

Korbi, in her blog Korbi TV on ZAP2it, answered some fan questions about Glee. She was one of the lucky ones to see episodes 2 & 3, so she told people to email her their questions in her last post about Glee. I’ve posted the questions and answers below, but I highly recommend you visit the post here to see some pics and watch a couple of promos also.

Your burning “Glee” questions and, as promised, my answers…

I saw that you watched episodes 2 and 3 of “Glee” on a facebook post. You’re soooooo lucky!!!!!!! I am a huuuuuuuuuuuge fan, and if you would not mind, could you give me detailed plots for both episodes? –Kevin
In ep 2 (titled “Showmance”), Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) is told he must recruit more Glee Club members if he wants the group to survive, so he sets the kids up to perform the 1978 disco hit “Le Freak” at a school assembly. Apparently, it was super popular back in Schuester’s day. But Finn (Cory Monteith) and Rachel (Lea Michele), fearing the entire student body will laugh them out of the gym if they sing that “gay song,” hatch another plan. In the process, they end up getting closer… In ep 3 (titled “Preggers”), Kurt (Chris Colfer) — yes, Kurt — tries out for the football team to impress his dad. Also, Finn’s bitchy girlfriend Quinn (Dianna Agron) delivers some troubling news. But she’s a big liar. As is Schuester’s wife Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig).

Do Rachel and Finn ever get together? –Jasneet
Well, Quinn is still Finn’s girlfriend in episode 3… and yet I’m not quite sure how to answer your question. Depends what you mean by “get together.”

Is there any growth in Emma and Will’s friendship? –Elise
Indeed. Emma (Jayma Mays) and Will (aka Mr. Schuester) share more than a couple intimate scenes in the next two episodes. But they’re both good people. And Mr. Schuester is married, so… yeah.

Will Mr. Schuester divorce his wife Terri and hook up with Emma? –Megan
God, I hope so.

Do any Cheerios or football players join Glee? –Jasneet
Mhmmm

Are there more layers and depth to the other members of the glee club (Artie, Tina, Mercedes and Kurt?) –Elise
Episode 3 revolves around a major Kurt storyline and it’s pretty awesome. Hilarious and heartwarming. And, I must say, I think Chris Colfer is going to be a breakout star.

What’s on the soundtrack for each of the next two episodes? I know “Don’t stop Believing” and “Rehab” were absolutely incredible, and I haven’t stopped listening. Thanks so much!!! –Aaron
On tap: Hilarious interpretations of “Gold Digger” (Kanye) and “Push It” (Salt N Pepa), a heartbreaking rendition of “Take a Bow” (Rihanna), an unforgettable version of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” (unforgettable because it plays a pivotal role in the storyline), plus “I Say A Little Prayer” (Burt Bacharach), “All By Myself” (Eric Carmen), “Tonight” from “West Side Story” and “The Money Song” from “Cabaret.”

I really thought “Glee” was just a summer show and that I had missed it. Strangely glad that’s not the case. Any idea when they will air the episodes? –Michael

Televisionary Blog Reviews Glee

Posted by Rob on Jul-14-2009 under Glee Episode Previews

Jace on Televisionary has written an advance review of the next two episode of Glee. In Jace’s opinion, it gets (even) better, so make sure to read the review below:

Coach Sue“If I’m going to sing like someone else, then I don’t need to sing at all.” – Billie Holiday

Confession: I wasn’t crazy about the pilot episode of FOX’s Glee, which the network aired in May as a teaser for a full series launch, kicking off this fall on September 16th.

But I’m an open-minded guy. So when FOX invited me to screen two episodes of Glee that will air this fall–the season opener (“Showmance”) and the series’ third episode (“Preggers”)–I happily accepted the invitation in order to see if the series had fallen more in line with my own expectations of what it should be like.

I’m happy to say that it has.

These two episodes of Glee, each written and directed respectively by series creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, have a better balance of darkness and light, humor and pathos, and an abundance of dry wit that I found a better fit than the pilot episode. (Hell, it’s rather hysterically raunchy at times.)

Which isn’t to say that Glee strays into the bleakness of Nip/Tuck territory because it doesn’t. Tonally, these two installments display a better balance of cheerfulness and angst than displayed in the pilot episode and it’s a balance that better suits my own cynical vantage point.

Assisting in this delicate tightrope walk is the supremely talented Jane Lynch, who embodies the sinister Sue Sylvester with a, well, gleeful abandon. I felt that Sue was too shallowly drawn in the pilot and was bordering on cartoonish, but I take that back completely after seeing Lynch’s bravura performance in these episodes. Her Sue Sylvester is a seething morass of complex emotions, bitter vendettas, imagined slights, and raw ambition.

Sue moves more towards the forefront of the series, becoming an even bigger celebrity in their small town (look for a local news spot on the benefits of caning) as she makes bare her own motivations for wanting so terribly to succeed. I won’t give any specific plot points away but I will say that Sue complicates things not only for Matthew Morrison’s Will Schuester but for the Glee Club as a whole and her path to their destruction takes an intriguing and Machiavellian route that brings back a face from the pilot in a rather unexpected way.

Glee Cast Video Diaries to Come!

Posted by Rob on Jul-14-2009 under Behind The Scenes, Cast & Crew, Videos

From all the advertising, we can assume that the Glee cast video diaries should be on Fox.com soon! The cast has been documenting their summer as they work on Glee and then video diaries will be put on Fox.com/Glee when they’re available. Make sure to check back, because we’ll update you once they’re online. But just to tide you over, here are two promos advertising what’s to come:

Beyoncé & Glee Make Sweet Music Together

Posted by Rob on Jul-10-2009 under Chris Colfer, Glee Episode Spoilers

In addition to his videoblog after seeing the 2nd and 3rd episodes of Glee, Marc Malkin has now posted even more info on Glee which you can read below:

Beyonce & Chris ColferBeyoncé‘s “Single Ladies” just won’t go away, will it?

Justin Timberlake had us laughing with his leotard-wearing rendition on Saturday Night Live. Then Joe Jonas had us cringing when he showed off some rather spastic moves to the hit dance song. And of course, there are those gazillion YouTube videos paying homage to Beyoncé’s engagement ring anthem.

Now comes Glee, the new upcoming Fox dramedy from Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy.

So how does Mr. Murphy use “Single Ladies”? We’ll tell you now so you don’t have to wait until the episode airs on Sept. 30.

The very fey Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) is caught by his dad (Mike O’Malley) dancing in a leotard to “Single Ladies” with two female friends. To try to cover up his less-than-masculine traits, Kurt ends up convincing his father that he’s the high school football team’s newest kicker.

Kurt somehow lands himself the position and becomes the school hero when he helps the team break its losing streak by incorporating “Single Ladies” into one of their plays.

The Beyoncé-meets-pigskin sequence of events leads to Kurt’s coming out to his father. And the best part, Dad says he always knew and that he loves him no matter what.

Now that, dear readers, is music to our ears.

Buzz from Screening of Glee’s 2nd and 3rd Episodes

Posted by Rob on Jul-09-2009 under Glee Episode Previews, Glee Episode Spoilers

The people at Glee have just privately screened the second and third episodes which we won’t be able to see until September. It seems that everyone who saw them agrees that they are even more amazing than the pilot. (Yes, apparently that’s possible…?)
So we rounded up some articles from people who were lucky enough to see the screenings. The first is a series of teases by Denise Martin of the LA Times which you can see below. Even more from Korbi Ghosh (ZAP2it) and Marc Malkin (E!Online) after the jump.

Can time pass by any slower? There are still two more months until the Sept. 16 fall premiere of Ryan Murphy’s musical comedy “Glee.”

But take solace, “Glee” fans. On Wednesday, Fox held a cloak-and-dagger screening of two more episodes for what the network and studio have termed “Friends of Glee” (otherwise known as TV writers who can’t get enough), and I’ve got the details.

Without giving too much away — nothing that the video clip above doesn’t — here’s a hint of what viewers can expect:

– A side-splitting tribute to Salt N Pepa at the duo’s most randy. Watch for Artie to bring down the auditorium. (To say anything more about the song choice would ruin it, trust me.)

– Then there’s Mr. SchuesterMercedes and Kanye West. They do the rapper proud.

– Coach Sue will earn a regular soapbo…er, spot on the local news where she’ll sound off on topics she feels strongly about. Like caning.

– McKinley High’s helpless football team will get a lesson in “loosening up” from KurtMr. Schuester … and Beyonce. (Does it compare to what Justin Timberlake did for unitards on “SNL”? It does that — and then some.)

– Mrs. Schuester, meanwhile, is going to be keeping a pretty big secret from her husband.

– Lonesome leading lady Rachel will see some guy-on-girl action, only to follow it up by belting out a kiss-off Rihanna tune that she turns heart-wrenching. Later, she’ll make a big decision that affects the entire show choir — ahem, enter Kristen Chenoweth — as a result of the return of Mr. Reyerson.

– Finn. Performance. Car accident. ’nuff said.

– Head cheerleader-president of the celibacy club Quinn will perform a song of her own — and she can reallysing! Ditto Tina, the choir’s resident Asian goth stutterer.

– Denise Martin
